We got lucky with the Hurricane....No major damage to the house, only partial roof got damaged. The water level was 2" shy of our patio and swimming pool.....

This isn’t the first trailer mishap. Last year I blew a couple tires. In 2020 a tire flew off due to broken studs. This time the right rear trailer bearing gave up and brakes and all departed the axle and on top of that both U-bolts snapped. The axle was totallly useless. A young dude stopped and helped me with this debacle (zero tires on the passenger side trailer).Apparently your luck with driveline isn't limited to your 80
I limped it to the next rest stop on the spare tire that evening. Next morning I unloaded the cruiser and left it in the care of the nice people manning what seemed to be an old weigh station. Then I drug the old trailer to a dealer in Jerome Idaho after a lot of research and chasing around. He was going to sell me a new axle to install myself in the gravel parking lot. I thought that was a good idea for about 15 seconds hence the new, bigger and better trailer. The show goes on…
Just drive your rig next time..you tow it like its a buggy....=)

I know that you are busting my balls about my comments concerning @FMC80 20’ trailer. I was thinking of that just a bit ago. I was in a bind on the rad trip and figured heavier duty was a good idea but 20’ was the shortest that dealer had in a 14.5k gross. I’m still getting used to it. Drags real nicely but but turns a bit larger radius.
Yeah, agreed. Got to be super careful when you swing in to a gas station to remember to go wide enough to miss the pumps.
Always had to be mindful of that when i used to pull multiple length trailers all the time.

Even flat towing can be exciting in a gas station. A few years ago on my way to the Maze with my F350, camper and 80 in tow, I was exiting a Maverik in Vernal, UT when some idiot in a Prius whipped into the pumps, so I had to cut it shorter than I wanted to. The 80 smacked the red iron post barrier on the end of the pump row on the passenger side. Didn't feel it and only noticed it when I got to the RV park, just down the road. WTF?! Where did that red paint on the slider and rear flare come from? Slider saved it! Walked back to the gas station and checked the post.....yep, it had fresh marks on it that matched my slider height....but, there were other older marks on almost every post in that station. So, it could have been worse! I felt better, especially imagining if I ended up dragging a gas pump out on to the highway and a burning Maverik in my rear view mirrors! 
you knowni had a 16' ages ago and have had a 20' for 12 years now and I honestly think it tows better. i have never had an issue with turning radius. Mine is a tilt deck though and has more of a 50/50 axle placement than some non tilt trailers with more of a 60/40 axle placement.

I bought the 10k 20 footer 12 years ago bc that was what I actually needed. I looked at this as an opportunity to go up in load capacity and it just so happened to come in 20’. It does tow noticeably better; less apt to fishtail, the load is less on the hitch with a proper balance, backing is is more forgiving and there is less perceived trailer input onto the truck going down the road.
I considered a tilt bed but it cost $4k more and I don’t really need that.
I do need to add proper tie down points and jacks to the rear.

Upgraded to buggy duty, the 1993 Champ did well post my mistake. Sometimes the events of life do us good.

The follow up reaction brought this neglected 96 from Bend, Oregon to our house. PO was second owner since 99. They were not car people but, as we’ve seen over and over, the second owner who can’t let go eventually lets the car sit unattended. This rig leaks oil like mad and was baked in the high desert sun. I’m thinking an “overland” type build over time.
