Hi fellow cruiser-heads,

Yes, you guys are right, here in Australia we either had the crank-handle (such as mine does) for the earllier model 55's with the tailgate opening down, or for the later models they were fitted with "barn doors" opening out. Did you get barn-doors over there. Only found out there was an electric rear window via the Promotional poster given to me by the previous owner.

So glad to have found your 55's preservation society!! The pigs are getting scarce over here. First found out about all the 55's over there via the TLC company.

Looking forward to scanning all the posts.

Regards from good ol' OZ,
Nathan

Welcome Nathan!

It is nice to hear from a Pig lover down-under!

I just became the proud owner of a 55 which originated in Australia...but the crank for the window is missing. Looks like a previous owner tried (poorly) to wire it up and make it a power window but that wiring (and more) is in bad shape so I'm thinking if I can get my hands on a crank that would be awesome. Anyone ever find out if you can still find em somewhere in the world? I'd love to get the Hand Crank for this Piggy.

Blackgold,
Just found the crank for the rear window in my tool bag! Ill send it your way if you would like. I'm not sure if the crank works for the back window anymore, due to the fact that it was changed to a power setup. The window was setup like that when I got it from California.
Thanks!
Andy

Dang... I sure would like to retro mine. I am a hater of all things electric when it comes to windows. Especially when that little plastic gear breaks again. Anyone out there want to sell a rear window gear?

good thread, thanks all. It is always interesting to learn more about what Toyota put on their cars in different places.
