I'm looking at adding rear bumper with tire carrier but not sure what to go with; passenger side carrier or driver side. Based on following (if other options please advise) these are the options:

1. Slee - fixed on passenger side
2. Dissent - optional for driver or passenger side
3. LRA - optional for driver or passenger side.
I really like Slee design and they have in stock but do not have option for driver side. LRA is in stock and like design but with shipping is about $500 more than Slee. Dissent is great design/option but lead time is 14-16 weeks and their price is about $200 more than Slee with ladder option (including shipping costs).

So narrowing down to Slee and Dissent is it worth the wait to get Dissent for driver side mount vs passenger side mount from Slee? Reason I'm asking is what is better from a viewing/mounting standpoint? Dissent says in their description that putting the tire carrier on the driver side provides the best visibility if you plan to run dual swings. but wanted to get real world feedback from those of you who have either brand and does it really matter...

In my opinion, the hardest angle to see while driving is directly behind you so you may as well place the tire biased to the driver side. The rear view mirror does a better job of displaying middle to passenger side rather than middle to directly behind you. That's my reasoning. I could be wrong.

Here's what I did on my 80 about 14 years ago. Iron Pig Offroad when they still made 80 bumpers.

EDIT: Caveat - Also depends on drawer Build-Outs/Fridges/CargoBarrier/Molle/etc.

i went passenger side w. the dissent.

reason: drivers side is reserved for gas cans. makes it so you don't have to move cans to siphon gas into gas tank.

Same thought process here, and it's worked pretty well for the last 8 or so years. Plus the spare opens away from traffic when pulled over, even though I've never had the need. And a backup cam for the loss in visibility there.

I also added a second receiver hitch to the tire swing (which is quite a lot larger physically than the one for fuel cans) for a bike rack, so it also swings away from traffic

If the carrier opens past 90 degrees on the drivers side, traffic/cyclists are more likely to hit it. I've been planning to make a rod to limit it to 90 degrees when needed. Actually, I'm thinking about removing it altogether and just going Gluetread, angle grinder/flap discs, etc.

Thanks for feedback. Not making it easy haha!

Assuming you live in a place where we drive on the right side of the road, I would always put a swing out on the right side so that it’s not open into traffic every time you have to open your trunk. I’d rather swing and partly block a sidewalk than cyclists/cars.

THIS! I really wish I had known about gluetread before buying a full spare wildpeak on an scs rim… woulda saved me a lot of weight and money.

Driver side is the fuel tank plus weight of driver. I put mine on the passenger to lessen the weight on the fuel tank side 🤷‍♂️ and I don't often carry passengers when camping.
I only add my spare when camping/trails

Should be on the drivers side (left hand side) for visibility. Alternatively you can add backup camera and a rear view mirror camera. Even with those I still prefer it being on the left hand side for checking blind spot over my right shoulder while merging.

As an ARB dealer a while back, ARB who is one if not the first to mass-produce rear bars with spare tire and jerry cans for fuel swing outs, the concept is pretty straightforward, you put the jerry can same side of the gas fuel door for obvious and convenience reasons and the spare tire on the other side. 100 series spare tire is on the left side, 200 series on the right side.
