Hello there. Sourced my brake issue to a broken hard line, the one that connects the left rear drum and follows the rear axle, over the diff, and into a valve/manifold of some sort. Picked up what I thought was the correct replacement from SOR, and its close, but where it threads into the left rear drum, it has a funky 90-degree bend that my original didn't have, and I'm not going to make it work without modification.

Can someone out there with a similar year truck, that still has drums, take a picture of the left rear from the underside/rear looking at the brake line connections please? I want to see if I have a non-standard setup, or if it's the wrong part. Thanks.

P.S. I am at work until Monday night, so I am unable to snap a pic of my setup. Thanks!

63 should be a centered rear diff? That might be the difference?
My rear diff is not centered. It is the original, I believe. The brake line I bought is correct all the way from right to left until the last 4 inches or so it takes a 90 degree turn that I can’t overcome.

IIRC, the problem is that the lines are bent to go into the V shaped fitting that is held to the wheel cylinder with the banjo bolt. But on the early 45s, the lines actually thread into the banjo bolt, like the earliest 55s.

This is a picture i took before i went to get the new line. You can see the line goes straight in, but the new one I got has a 90 degree bend that takes it away from the fitting and towards the rear of the truck

I looked through all the pics I have and did not have one of what you’re looking for. What you posted looks familiar to what I had but I don’t know for sure. I can look to see if I have that brake line in a box.

I have the Eastwood double flare tool if you wanted to tackle making one yourself. You’d have to source the 9mm fitting.

Actually, if the one you bought is long you can cut that one to size and use the fitting from that.

Yeah, that was my plan if I cant find one that fits right out of the box. Guy in Northridge has the flare tool to finish it up.

I hate to say it but...

Really?..

As far as brake lines go, the E - 64 is a weird bunch. Center diff or not. V fitting or not. When one was and the other wasn't. I haven't been able to ID what dates (months) all these things are. If ANYONE has that knowledge, please let me know.

All I can guess is that there are at least two patterns for the ones on the rear axles for these years. 40s or 45s. I've made that addition to my lines now. I guess I'll have to go by truck by truck basis.
