If it's up this direction, I'll offer up the special tool to get the hub nut off and on.

...loaned it to another mudder, don't know when he'll be done with it, maybe he'd like to join this party?

Looks like there's little to no interest. Maybe I'll tackle this in the next coming weeks.

Dan, give me a PM if/when you find out about the SST.

Maybe you want to make it a regear and front axle rebuild party! :D

Dude if I was down in your neck of the woods i would be so down. Greasy, learnin' and good company. Good luck finding peeps for your party...

I wanna throw a knuckle rebuild party too!!!!

Maybe if I advertise it as free brews, jello fights and a wet T-shirt contest I might get some peeps too.

:cheers::beer::meh:

I have Dan's special rear axle tool. I don't think I will get around to it until Christmas break so... I can send it back to Dan or to this rebuild party

Work always gets in the way of fun! ;)

I'm in if this gets off the ground. I think I changed my rear pads recently....not sure actually, I've been very bad at logging my work lately.

I would like to get some new bearings in the rear axle, though its too bad I just changed the rear diff gear oil this weekend ...oh well. Looked brand spanking new actually so I'm sure my bearings are (and have been) gear oil lubed for a long long time.

I also need to adjust the lvps or lpvs or lsvp or whatever that thing is called....kind of relevant to a rear brake rebuild...almost

let me know
Brad

No need to be exclusionary, right? Anything wrong with having a general "Axle rebuild Party" and either front or rear axle could be tackled... Collective wisdom is vast and useful here.

Anyone have the room? Or the patience? Or the nerve?

I'd like to do the front now but I need to get the parts together, this would be good motivation...

Dan.

Exactly. I'd love to host you guys, but that's not a viable option. A parking lot isn't perfect, but it would allow us to get everyone together, plenty of space and flat ground. Just remember those knee pads!

I'll see if I can think of anything.
Brad

Well last weekend I decided to tear into the axles. Quite a job for running at it solo...especially for the first time. Very thankful for a large supply of :beer::beer::beer::beer: in the garage fridge.

Thirds went up to Demello the other day and now have 4.88's installed waiting to get put back in the truck.

Sitting in the garage right now.

A little soupy.

The rear is HEAVY!!! And surprisingly clean with no wear marks.

Give a heads up next time. I'd love to lend a hand and learn something.

Still not done. C'mon over. :cheers: I have only been able to put in an hour or 2 here and there.

I will definately be able to lend a hand with others after this. Have learned a lot.

Hey Garry,
I'll be glad to lend a hand if you need. I need all the experience I can get so I have 1/2 a clue when I do mine. When do you typically work on your rig? Weeknites or weekends?

Derrick

Yes

Weeknights and weekends. I have to go to Pasadena tomorrow but hope to work on it tomorrow eve if possible.

Sent a PM.

Sent a PM.

Everything is back together and working now. Thanks Derrick for helping me hoist that 2 ton rear third member back into place!

My off the line power is restored and my death wobble from loose bearings is gone. Ran it last night to calibrate the ScanGuage and I am running ~2600RPM at 70 MPH. Glad I did not go with 5.29's
