anytime you're in Hilux prices, I say go for it......miles don't scare me PO's do

That's $500 less than my locked 94 with 225k was 3 years ago.

oh, and OBD1 and that tranny would be cool to me, I look/ like the old stuff better

......miles don't scare me PO's do

that what scares me.
it's in a super ritzy doctor zone.
PM is either all there, or never done.
oil, what oil?

look for documentation or take the VIN to the dealer and have the history brought up.

My experience is with, 1/2 standard bolts , fence pipe exhausts, T handle shifters, 4" lift with no regear, stripped threads, welded exhaust flanges, BREAK FLUID for oil  , impacted in spark plugs that make you have to tear your 22RTE out for the 3rd time!!

....kinda stuff, but thats things you can see, and make you draw conclusions. If she looks the part 9 outa 10 times on high end rig like that its all good. MILES BE DAMNED, dont let that stop you. PM is PM, get it, do it!

only two things can survive a nuclear bomb(well, up to 1997 anyways :flipoff2:).......

no lockers...no big deal.
tranny slips....alittle....test drive on sunday to see how little.
can they be rebuilt, or is replacement the bedt idea?
check engine lite on.....says it's due to the tranny issue.
HG done last year, with an OEM HG, at a local toyota guy.....if the labor rate is a reflection of quality of work, they're the best.

bone stock.
3rd owner.

stoped and talked to the guy this morning. just a quick once over.
one thing i noticed.
i fired it up. started right up...it's been sitting for a few weeks.
it ran up to ~2000rpms and hung there for roughly 2-3 minutes...if it was that long, then dropped to 1000 or so rpm's...that normal?

it's the gold...champeign color...i was hoping for burgandy...oh well.

hoping it gets enough points on the test drive to pass.

looking to join the club.

 I thought a DD could have those miles on the original fluid and still be good? Something to worry about, :whoops:

Does the hitch have places for a load distributing hitch? ;)

Find out what he used it for and if it was a tow rig. Then I'll say he never changed the fluid.

Isn't that the O/D light flashing on those models?

Good to know

seems to me, if their cold, dang cold I've seen all EFI's do that.

Correct.

Tranny cannot throw an engine light code.

brian,

You can check the code with no tools other than a paperclip as a jumper wire. Takes less than a minute:

Troublcodes.net Trouble Codes OBD & OBD2 Trouble Codes and Technical info & Tool Store. By BAT Auto Technical

I would have some concern about the tranny. If the fluid level's correct (check it; you know the correct procedure, right?) but it truly is slipping, that is NOT good, and there is no quick, hassle free way to repair/replace.

HG done is a plus though; is there a warranty on that?

he threw some thing out then back pedaled.
has a pontoon boat at the river.
mentioned he used the cruiser to drag it out........but never towed with it....
has an old(i.e rusty) u-haul add-a-hitch under the rear, but nothing high tech.

I bought a 62 a few years ago really cheap. It had a bad tranny and the owner didn't want to mess with it.

The first thing I did was the flow test (pull a line and do a timed fill into a bucket). The flow was restricted. After cleaning the pan and running 20 or so qts. of fluid thru the flow rate was within spec. I adjusted the kickdown cable and it shifted perfectly.

The tranny issue is a good negotiating point. You might luck out and get out of it for the price of some fluid.

This is all right but I would NOT do this in front of the seller, it shows your knowledge and that you want it bad. Tip your hand and he wont call your bluff.

I act dumb as **** in front of sellers, turns out I'm pretty good at, it just comes natural like to some. :hillbilly:

Swipe it, taker back behind the shed and giver the ol' 1-2.
But don't pop her hood and act like you know your way around in front of the old man.

.....:hmm:....

$4900, 188k.
awaiting pics. local truck.
I have a '94 with the same mileage. Truck is in very good shape. Aside from Hiluxxx's comments, I would think hard. Rig has prolly seen its share of off roadness, etc. I have 194 k on mine, and I wouldn't ask more than 4k for it.

That's a $3500 truck.

whelp, i've jumped in. gave the guy his $4900. was going to play games.
but geeze i could'nt even notice the slipping, if it actually is. that kick down cable adjustment just may take care of that.
comes with all the service records. drives real nice, nothing funny. going to clear the engine codes on it prior to the drive home(roughly 12 miles).

no pics, yet. wednesday we do the paper work.
neighbors are going to be pissed, but screw them.

has the brown cloth interior, which i'd rather have over leather. 3rd row seating, cool but not needed.

pretty cool how you can see the design queuses from teh 60 series so easy in it.

READ THEM FIRST!!!

There's no reason not to; it's free information. Won't hurt a thing to drive home with the CEL on if for some reason you don't want to read them at his place.

3rd row seats can be taken out/put back in at will; so the only reason they're not a plus is if you have nowhere to store them.

my thing with the cel, is i'd like to know if it's a current issue, or an old one that has been addressed but not cleared.
if it's a current issue those 12 miles should be enough to throw a code agian.

3rd seating, no use for them, no place other than in place to store them

this is a fantasic machine.
15yrs and 188k miles, and you would never guess it.

here's the proof that even a commoner can attain such a prize as this.

i'am in love with this.
