Hello Im in the process of rewiring my whole HJ because of some unknown electrical issue. If anyone has any advice or tips that would be great. I will probably be posting pictures of the process and problems I run in to.

Are you going to build a new harness or simply start from one end of the existing harness and work through?

I have a kinda universal wire harness that connects to mostly everything but for anything that it doesn’t support i will be running and creating a harrness for them.

I’ve just taken out the interior and removed the gauge cluster and steering wheel. I will start following lines and drawing out a blue print of the harness.

Looks like someone already completely rewired it in the past.

Having custom rewired a number of 40, 60 and 80 series I can say the 40s are pretty straight forward.

Personally I’ve gone to a wreckers and stripped out a complete loom from a late model high end vehicle (just make sure it doesn’t have canbus). A good recommendation is a 99-2006 Land Rover... you start with a modern fuse panel with more than enough relays/fuses and very long lengths of unique coloured wires. From there it’s pretty simple to draw up a wiring diagram and swap the wires around...

Much much cheaper than any “kits” and can be done relatively fast. Also the extra capacity means you can start adding lots of other circuits...

Good luck either way.
