Where are you located? In denver I found an all Chevy truck wrecking yard. That same flywheel cost me $30.

I'm in Missoula, MT. $75 used and an hour away. And I'd still want to resurface it. My favorite local yard would let it go to me for much less, but he just doesn't have anything.

Haven't explored internet purchase yet. Guess that's next.

Oh no, not at all. I spent about a week finding one, they are much more rare then I ever imagined. If you think about it, many more automatics were coming out in the later year Chevy's.

Just broke my 4th pinion shaft in 20+ yrs of beating my truck, and it left my kids and I stranded overnight on Steel Bender in Moab. Hammerhead says I need a fine-spline pinion like an FJ62. Does anybody within reasonable driving or affordable shipping distance of the St. George UT. area have a complete 3rd member that would bolt in to my 78 FJ40.
