Do you use between the front of the radiator and body only? What about between the fan shroud and radiator? When/if you put the foam between the shroud and radiator, is there the potential for the fan sucking the foam into it? How would you secure the foam to stop this?
High temp double sided sticky tape that's hydrophobic may work. As well as weather stripping that can handle heat and not soak up water either.is there supposed to be a piece also at the very bottom?
It should be between the fan shroud and radiator, all the way around. Some also add it between the 'header' over the AC condenser and the top of the radiator.

For foam, I just went to the big box and bought the stuff used for household insulation. It comes in various sizes. There's peel-and-stick on it. Seems to work. I put a Koyo in almost two years ago. The biggest block was the piece under the radiator and what I used there was 1.5" x 1.5" or 2 x 2" square. Went out to inspect just now and it seemed to all be in place and staying stuck -- I did NOT crawl underneath but I'm pretty sure no more reason to come lose down there than what's easy to see.
My shroud was so beaten and broke, taped together with aluminum tape, that it's a miracle it's still hanging in there. I'm pretty sure I relied on what was left of the old foam, but again a thin strip of household foam should work.
I have a cooking basket over the exhaust manifold with a thermometer on. I've seen in near 200 indicated, but never over. I'm not sure a foam rated to 300 degrees is needed.
I just used the weatherstrip foam from Home Depot. I have it all the way around the radiator on the front and all the way around between the shroud. I also have it between the core support top and rad. Zero issue with water, heat or wind.

hey man I know this is a pretty old thread but do you by any chance have a picture or link to the type you bought at Home Depot? just ordered a new radiator and gonna have to add some foam when it arrives.
A new Toyota radiator comes with the foam attached, otherwise if buying an aftermarket radiator just go into any hardware store and go to the window/door/HVAC insulation section. There is open cell foam (which will soak up water like a sponge) and closed cell foam which will not soak up water. If it isn't clear from the package, the closed cell foam is the more expensive type but it's also denser and won't compress as much as the open cell foam. FWIW

aftermarket radiator is on the way. Looked on the Home Depot site and there is no specifics regarding closed or open cell foam. the only thing that it says is dimensions and material that it is made out of. I can ask someone when I go in but... if you have any links or pictures. it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
