Question about the 84 SR5 with 22RE

Pre-'85 22RE. Very interesting. I never knew of such a thing.

I remember reading long ago that Toyota had "analog" EFI computers on Celica's... that also used the 22R around the same era. I wonder if the ECU part number crosses over to the Celica.

On a side note, that old reading also claimed the old analog ECU's were less accurate than the fully digital ones, but easier to modify. I can imagine: if biasing is based on analog components, it could be easy to modify... not that you'd want to. I'd guess that any changes would be real science experiment.

that looks identicle to the engine in my brothers 83 celica

Sure does! I was looking around on google image search and found this picture from an 84 Celica:

Looks like the same engine with the air intake and charcoal canister in different locations and a few other things

As far as I know it's not a Canadian Model - Any way to tell? I have the Carfax report for it and it was originally bought with about 27 miles on it in southeast Missouri.

* knocks head* You're right - Had that site bookmarked with my VIN for a bit but hadn't paid too much attention to the details at the top:

11/1983 TOYOTA 4RUNNER (RN55L-MSCEA)
SR5 USA XTR T1 ST 22REC EFI MTM 5F CBU HLF W

Mine is a 1984 4x4 and On the Toyota DIY website mine pulls up as Carb, but when i go to the dealer it pulls up EFI. Same VIN, so either my dealer is full of it or the site is wrong. I beleive its orignally EFI because of the hack job wiring Im constantly having to repair/remove.
