PWR Button Use

I use it on long uphill grades above 10,000 ft. Overdrive off PWR on. It seems to help out.

You should have seen it when it still had 285 tires. I dusted a few Hemi Dodges, much to their amazement. Of course, that was back when primo was $1.79 a gallon.

I wonder if long term use of the power button has an effect on engine longevity. You're running up to higher revs on each and every shift.

I used it more when I lived on Long Island with they way they drive there. Now that I'm in South Jersey the button does't get pushed unless I'm towing. I'm of the same opinion as Truckasaurus.

Romer is referancing T-charger costs. The seemless power increase of a Toyota approved Supercharger is half that cost. Think of it as two sets of good tires or one set of good tires and a lift to run them. Best mod you can do if you hate running short on power or getting blown away by stock Crapokees!

Let's see here:

The Cons:

- MPG after blower install with your tires and setup: 9.
- Cost of premium at the Shell at TX 290 and Hwy 6 on July 1, 2006: $3.50
- Number of miles a year you will now drive because of the thrill: 15,000
- Annual fuel cost: At least $5835.
- Cost of the blower, $4K.

The Pros:

- You can surprise lots of Chevy owners if you can afford the gas.
- You can actually squeal your 295 BFG tires.
- I have owned one and live only 10 minutes from you (maybe that's a Con.)
- You will be further encouraged to do your HG.
- What you can't climb you can just knock out of the way.
- OPEC needs all the help they can get.

Yep, the Pros are in your favor. Order it. Oh yeah....and call Shell and tell them you need your gas card limit doubled.

Yes, you have 315s (that I know you can squeal) but he has 295s.

Back to the origional thread for a sec,

Doesnt the PWR button also lock the torque converter sooner? It seemed to on my 88 4-Runner, aside from offering higher shiftpoints, they were firmer. That would certainly be a bonus with low speed rock crawling. Sadly, dont have the button on my '91, dont even know if it was an option, though there is a dummy plug there. Anybody know if it refrofits off a later model, and if it would help my anemic 3FE?
