Barstow race carnage and King of the Hammers prep, If you wonder how hard I push the 45 ask Garrett Esterer my Co driver for the ProAm Desert championship. We broke both front leaf springs at the same time, punched a hole in the exhaust, bent 2 U bolts, snapped a lower knuckle cap stud off and almost ripped a brake line off. Now I am replacing the front springs ( all new hardward ), had some new U bolts made, pulling both knuckles to check all the studs and replacing all the spring bushings. Thanks to our sponsors Georg Esterer Valley Hybrids and Kurt Williams Cruiser Outfitters I have all the parts already in stock for race prep. I also am trying something diffrent with the springs ( see photo ) Thanks for all the support.

While I am waiting for a few things I started working on the spare tire rack, With the new Bradley rims and TOYO tires I needed to move the inside tire tube, so the wider tires fit. 4 hours of cutting and grinding and were close LOL. Once thats done I will need to make the tool and parts basket smalled to fit between the tubes.

Rob, these 4 plus flip kits might suit you well, maximum clearance!!

Yeah, when we first started mocking things up over two years ago I checked into this option in the front ( still using them in the rear. The issue was bump stops and clearance between the U-bolts and nuts. I killed a lot of rubber bump stops and we dont have the room to run hydraulic bump stops. Thats when I took an old 55 rear axle housing and cut the shock mounts off and welded them between the U bolts giving us a nice flat surface for the bump stop to hit.

25 days and counting. @brooksfj60 Bob came over and we got the spare tubes moved and welded in place, I knocked out the parts rack today. I also had to narrow it down because of the larger tires. With that done I can get back under the 45. Finish up the front axle, install front driveshaft, start working my way back to the rear axle. So much prep and its going to be worth it. Ultima Umun !

More prep and stuff LOL Thanks to our newest Sponsor Terrian Tamer I finished up the front brake upgrade. Moved on to new bump stops, brake lines, U bolt plates and U bolts, Cleaned and checked the front driveshaft. Everything on the front axle has been checked, torqued or rebuilt. Thanks @orangefj45 and Valley Hybrids for the new replacement lower knuckle cap studs, We broke one off in Barstow so they all got replaced. 16 days and counting and the 45 needs to be on the trailer for shock tuning.

Working my way back under the 45 I found a broken bolt in the speedo housing. With a handheld little hacksaw, I was able to cut just enough to use a small screwdriver to extract the broken bolt. Looking forward to next weeks good weather and getting everything buttoned up.

Spent a lot of time cleaning and inspecting the Trans and T case the last few days. After extracting the broken bolt I cleaned and replaced the seals in the Valley dual seal Speedometer housing. The seals still looked great and @orangefj45 and our Sponsor Valley Hybrids had sent some spares down when we first started the build, so I thought why not replace them. Today working forward its driveshafts, more cleaning and re torquing, inspecting and prep. Once everything under the 45 has been done I'll move onto the engine area.
