You may want to consider a sealed battery that can't leak battery acid in case of a roll or flop. Also, I don't see a battery hold down.
Its a Ruffstuff battery tray I took the top hold down off while I'm working on it. During the race I have my good Blue top Optima battery.

Finished everything on the motor. Runs fantastic. Friday some of the guys are coming over and we can get the trans and T case installed. I got around to pulling the in cab air filter. I am really glad I installed this So in the future we will keep at least two at each pit and every stop it will get changed.

We got our T shirt design approved. These will be going on sale through the King of the Hammers Ultra4 web site within a week. I will post up the link as soon as they get it set up. For every shirt sold we get a percentage so you'll get a shirt and be supporting our efforts to get through next season. And support our Sponsors. Thanks everyone.

Had a Great weekend. Some of the guys came over last Friday before he Off Road Expo and helped me get the trans and T case installed. Everything is coming together and I shoud be ready for our first shock tune October 21st. Saturday we had a KOH Rookie weekend at the Off Road expo lots of workshops and vendors ( as you can see LOL ) I should have the 45 driving again by tomorrow then Sunday get the new Deaver springs installed. I was invited to co drive for Mick Henson a fellow Rusty Nail team mate at the Nationals in Lake Havasu October 27th. We have a plan to pre run in the 45 and get some exposure plus this would be a major shake down run then run the race in his 1985 Toyota Mini truck

Love your jack! Used to use a forklift for everything, so useful!!! Truck looks great bro!
Thanks Whitey, I am really digging everything about this. And the forklift is the best investment I ever made LOL

You might look into getting a sock or prescreen for the in cab filter. Something like this

Old limiting strap design just wasn't gonna work so we're giving this a shot. Teammate Mick Henson came up with this. I am doubling up on the upper strap brackets welded to the frame. The clears everything around the steering and allows us the run a longer strap. One more day and we need to be loaded on the trailer for our last King of the Hammers Rookie weekend.

What a Great weekend, Lots of information at the King of the Hammers Rookie weekend. The 45 is staying on the trailer and wednesday we leave for the Ultra4 USA Nationals in Lake Havasu. I was asked to co drive with Mick Henson in the 4619. Our plan is use the 45 to pre run some of the Desert course and get some exposure for the 45 and Team. This is a Great opportunity for me to get more seat time and experance.

Ultra 4 Nationals, Think about that. This is the race that everyone has been working towards all year. Point standing will determine who places in the top 3 drivers across the Country, I was asked by Mick Henson to be his co driver ( reminder Mick is in the running in the Top 3 drivers ). Something I have never done. I was nervous and excited and Mick just said We will have a Blast and I knew I could gain a ton of experance my biggest concern was not being able to do what was expected and cost him a title. Thursday Lake Havasu Ultra4 Nationals. We got a late start pre running in the 4619 after TECH Daylight, Clean air and a well maked course. Making mental notes MP 18, 25, 33 open desert, Skull rock approching the water fall drop, S turns, 180 turns. We had a clean run and I felt good calling out rocks, turns and dangers. This my first time in any Ultra 4 4600 class truck Mick is a Hell of a driver and every once in a while boosting my confidents with a " Good Call " " Nice catch " Friday would be the real deal. FRIDAY our start was pushed back til after 5 PM. Mick and I tried to figure out how to attach extra lights ( we would be running at night ) Placing 12th in the line up we would still have 45 minutes of daylight, 5:45 PM we took the green flag. Our first 10 miles running clean and fast. I was calling out the course markers ( red arrows posted on wooden stakes ) some marked better than others. By the time we hit the waterfall the sun was setting and everything changed. The dust was just hanging in the air, lights from UTV's and campers just off the course were distracting. MP 25 there was a full moon that only created more shadows on the course. Working hard to keep my adrenaline in check I had made some bad calls on some turns Mick recovered and at this point is was better to not call anything out unless it was visiable. With Mick focused on driving I knew my job was to watch for course arrows and dangers. In the wash past MP 27 we missed a turn and found ourselves off course. Mick stopped and a camera man pointed towards the course. Mick was totally focused on where we would enter, protecting the other racers and making sure this didnt happen again. We had come into the course at MP 33-34 cutting almost 8 miles out of the course. Not good. The entire time we had to shake off our frustration and move forward. Don't let this get in your head were still racing. Talking , calling out turns and Mick asking " Are you having Fun " Once close enough Mick called in we were pitting, " Get race ops on the radio now " Letting them know what happened and what we should do. We were told continue with the race and a pentaly would be assessed after the race. A quick drink of water and we were out again. By now some of the big trucks were out, The dust at some points so thick we couldnt see over the hood. Now add ourse arrows didn't get knocked over. { I kept that to myself ) And all this while Mick is driving the 4619 like I have never experienced. The last 1/3 of the course were all off camber, switchbacks, dusty up's and down's. We rolled across the ridge line and could see the pits. Still having fun we started talking and had made it. Last turn we overshot it a bit " Crap were still racing LOL " Mick backed up and nailed it down the hill into a sharp right for the checkerd flag. We rolled in front of the Ultra 4 tent smiles and handshakes, Tons of stories and we finsihed. We took a major penalty for going off course and after all the dust settled ended up in 10 place. All this racing at night. in the dust with no GPS. I gained a ton of experience. As a co driver you have to be there for your Driver. Stay completely focused, Be 100 percent positive on your directions, keep moving forward and help keep things calm. Mostly Hold on and Have Fun. Mick took a big chance inviting me along and I am Honored to have been his Co-Driver. I am happy to say in the ULTRA 4 National points championship Mick Henson scored 3rd in overall points. Thanks Mick and the Entire Rusty Nail racing family and everyone here on Mud frnthe support. Thats Bob Bower with me 2023 Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame and Grand Marshal for the Nationals. He nicknamed the 45 Queen of Patina
