Well the winch has had a serious workout this Easter Weekend.
I entered my first competition, a teams event over 24 hours.
Basically 11 teams of 3.
13 tracks.(a couple timed tracks)
Who ever does the most tracks in 24 hours wins. And if all the tracks are done before the 24 hours you start again.
We went around twice !
If two or more teams do the same then the times come into play to determine the winners.
Back to the winch...
It never missed a beat, had some real hard pulls, very steep hills.
Did some double line pulls...
I will post some photo's and vids as they come to hand....
I still have to get used to the quirks of the toyota setup, especially with the auto.
I would like to hear what others do....
Especially when winching and driving....It seems the winch is a bit (very) slower than the wheels and in soft condition's the truck just digs it self down.
And if you winch only, trying to get it from N in the transfercase to L is a real art....if you want to add a bit of drive.
And even harder to get it out again when fully loaded up 20 m up a steep hill.
At the end of the day I learnt heaps (baptism of fire) and our team came 3rd out of 11 teams.
