You would be nuts not to keepthe auto. It would make your rig so much better as a wheeler.

Mark At Metal Tech put a 2F block under the 3F head to create a 3F stroker. Keep the Fuel injection and the auto and use your 2F block.

Course, you could just not take my advice and send me the auto.. You won't need it anyway ;)

yaaa i am nuts....there is no way im putting auto i my truck. I like the sound and shifting of the 60 tranny. Just dont like auto's maybe im a little old school? Using the 2f block....does that solve the bad oil flow of the 3f?

Al,

We just had our annual meet and a new guy shows up with his pristeen 62, I swear this thing has never seen a trail before. I had to say I was jealous of this show truck, but then again i like mine and I like all the character that i have givin my truck. If I had a choice between a rust/dent free rig or something you can be hard on.......I'd go for a beater. Why?? Its just to hard for me to spend tons of money and then go out and tear the living s*** out of it.

Hell why don't you pick up that 55 down in deland, i think its still on ebay, and it looks like it would be a beast. i think thats what i'm going to do. I'm going to get my 62 where I want it and then invest on a true trail beater, and then wreck the terds outta both :D

matt

Yeah, why not pick up the 62 or something to DD and then keep the velveta to wheel. Tube the doors etc. Wheelin is so much less stressful when it doesn't have to run the next morning.

Chris

Matt,
i agree with ya, but no matter how nice it looks, i'll wheel it. I kinda have look out on life as such...someday after im gone, my crap is not going with me so i might as well use the hell out of it. So even if it was a perfect looking fzj80 i'd wheel the crap out of it. But rust work needs to be takin care of, and it almost looks like dropping a new body on is an easier method... :(

But it should still feel like velveeta for the most part because the whole drive line will be the same...

I always liked the thought of wheelin the crap out of it and then driving it to work on monday....that and i could never afford or keep up with the maintance of two cruisers :princess:

Send me the auto then..

I want my family hauler to have a stock auto with the turbo..

I'll take the 62 if you don't man...swap my crap over... I'm currently totally bummed about my rig and would freaking love to drop all my $h*t off of it over to a nice clean 62... Can't find a decent priced one though, so I'm afraid i'm probably going for an 80 instead. Just be parting out my 60 if nobody jumps on it soon...

You startin' a coil/link setup for your rear yet?

I was starting on it then after a week long wheeling trip to tellico i lost some body mounts beacuse of rust and the friggin thing started to lean to the drivers side. So, i thought i would try to be smart for once and do somthing i should do instead of somthing i want to do. but i have the coils and all ready to throw in....but its put on til project uranus is done.

dude dont get rid of the 60 you weenie....your just going to have to dump an ass load of money into an 80....fix your damn truck...

Send the auto my way...

Send the auto my way....

:flipoff2:

Mace, help me find a 60/62 with a blown motor with little to no rust somewhere near florida and you can have the damn auto for free.

lol

not tough out here :)

ok then, find one out there...i 'll buy it, you take the tranny and ship the rest to me, and no whacking it in the cab.

florida trucks are not really that rusty....its the northeastern trucks that get eating and since my rig is from PA...its been eatin.

so really i just have to find a 60/62 with a blown motor...

What's you price range?

I was thinking for a 60/62 with a blown motor would be in the 800 to 1k range.

I hear ya on that, but I'm actually damn sick of fiddling with it. Luckily my younger bro that has three cars is letting me borrow one for the time being... Gonna let my 60 sit under the carport for a bit and see how I end up feeling. I really want to dump it and get an 80. I got a new position at my work and a slight bump in pay to go with it... So now I'm workin' on payin' off the debt crap and lettin the 60 sit for a few months or so. But to be honest, if I got a solid offer of cash for near $5K, I'd do it in a heart beat. Sucks too, cause out here, 60s in good shape with near the same miles with no mods at all are going for $3-4K... We'll see what happens I guess... Cause I really would love to find a sweet-bodied, decent-miled 62 and swap all my stuff over...I hate this damn manual tranny. Daily driving in the city (stop lights practically every intersection...) like I do just absolutely sucks with a manual. And I could care less about having a manual for wheeling too. I actually loved wheeling a truck that had an auto... Plus I hate driving a carbed truck. Ya you can add EFI onto a 60, but why bother when there's 62s out there... Just my opinion though I guess... Anyway...

Good luck with your project man! And what happened to the pics...? :flipoff2:
