So it looks like this part will get me a replacement cylinder and blanks? Anyone else bought this? If not I can give CDan a call Monday (and, of course, buy from him at LM).

I asked and the dealer wanted nearly $30 to cut a key from the key code while a local locksmith said he would do the key code cutting for $10.

Ouch. My local dealer does key cutting for free. Just supply the vin and proof of ownership (insurance works) and that's it.

1999 auzzie gxl 105

I tried the brake /accelerator stuff 50 times

nothing else previously here worked But ......

This worked for me to add duplicate master key but the security light did not blink as in 8

These instruction were from 2001 prius ..go figure?

1. Close all doors.
2. Insert an already programmed master key into the ignition.
3. Turn the key from the OFF to On and back OFF FIVE (5) times.
4. Open and close the drivers door SIX (6) times.
5. Remove the key from the ignition.
6. Insert the new key you want to program into the ignition.
7. Turn the key to the ON position.
8. Wait 2 minutes. The security light will be blinking for this one minute. When it stops blinking your key is programmed.
9. Remove your key
10. Open and close the drivers door 1 time.

Nikalotesla,

For a 1999, you likely have the wrong instructions (as long as they are to be the same as for a 1999 US version). Check page 5 of this thread, there you can find the following below instructions.
These are the same as the ones I used when I programmed new keys many years back on my 1999. Worked like a charm!

Program new key (sequence E):
Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time.
Insert existing master key into ignition.
Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.
Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key.
Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition.
Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time.
After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off.
Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.

Please read my post . I have read the thred Im trying to help those who , like me were Not helped by the brake /gas stuff ...THEY DID NOT WORK ON MINE.

The instructions I posted DID WORK ON MINE

Im sure the gas brake works on many. Perhaps not the us models , I don't know

Obviously there are variations that have NOT benn covered in this thread .

Just trying to add useful info , not repeat already posted info that did not work for me .

This may sound like a odd question, but how would one know if i have the master key? What is the difference between a Master and sub?

I was told by Locksmith Charley that when you put the key in the ignition, if the security light goes out right away that it is a master key. If the security light goes out after a few seconds, its not a master key.

On a separate note while talking to him, he informed me that you could have a key that is physically a valet key and cut, it can still be programmed as a "master" transponder key. Likewise a physical master key and cut could be programmed to not be the "master" transponder key.

Sorry.....hope that makes sense.

The "master" key is the last key left programmed in the ECU after you deleted every other key...
If I recall correctly, the ECU can hold up to four keys.

I have 1 key for my 2001 LC100. How do I know if it's master? if it opens all doors, glove and start the car does it mean it's master?

Thanks!

If it "works" (to start the the car), then it is programmed into the ECU (and hence is a "master"). You can use that key to delete the "memory" of all other keys in the ECU, and then your current key is in effect a sole "master". Use that key to clear the ECU of all the other keys, and you should be able to use that very same key to program up to three additional keys.

Why important? If buying a used vehicle, and you are only getting one key, there might be other keys floating around. If you clear the ECU, those (floating) keys will still be able to open the car, but not start it and drive away with it, nor used to program the ECU.

what is the security light? the one next to the clock?

Well... not exactly. A key programmed as a Valet key will still start the car. It is better to check if it is a Master by using the security light method. (Note: that valet can be cut as a regular key)

Very True

what is the security light? the one next to the clock?

Yes. On my truck it is a little red LED with the word "Security" directly above it.

Anyone know if steps here will work with a Euro spec Land Cruiser 100 series?

Want to add another master and want to be sure steps work before I buy the $200 key.

Thanks,

Francis

Ok....deep down into the internet abyss, i have found how to reprogram a HDJ100 key. BUT the documentation refer to "2002.8 -" i am not sure what the minus stand for, is it before or after this date. I don't know.

But here is the pdf file, if forum moderators don't think it is appropriate to post on a public forum because of document property and/or for security reason, remove the file and who ever wants it i'll email it to them.

But you can forget about the brake and pedal process explain in this thread, in europe they play with the doors...

My guess is... 2002.8 is production date and on... equivalent to our Model Year 2003+

God I am loving this site more and more everyday.

I bought my 100 in the beginning of Nov and it came with two original looking Toyota keys. So I though I was good, until I started reading the manual and on the forums. Neither one of the keys I got with the truck were the remote keys. I had no keyless entry, and worse I thought I didnt have a master key.

But after studying this thread in detail for a couple of weeks, I now have a working master remote key. :) Thanks to Onur (beno) I was able to get a new Toyota master remote key at a great price. Thanks to this thread I saved an additional $100 by not having to pay to program the transponder or the remote.

So I guess I just want to say thanks all, for all the great info.

EDIT: i'm editing this post to correct incorrect information i was given from toyota europe

Well, i was on the phone again with toyota europe...

first get a Euro version of the Handheld tester II to read truck ECU and program a new key. I search online and cost is somewhere between 1000-1500$.

Second option is to buy a "Computer assy, Transponder key" It is a small box located under the dash, it is NOT the Engine ECU. This computer assy probably come with 1 or 2 key. When you plug this new transponder there is a specific procedure to follow that will allow you to program additionnal keys. Once the procedure is completed, THATS IT... you cannot program any new keys unless you have a handheld tester. My part number for this transponder computer is 89780-60100.

Third option is to manully program the immobiliser using a special procedure, read my post later in this thread.

One other option i can maybe look into is with a locksmith. I went to local locksmith here in Montreal. Most of them sell keys with chip they can program using your key. Unfortunately none of there hardware was able to copy my key. So i could look into a locksmith oversea, but that would probably mean shipping my one and only key over sea, and that is a no no...

Been talking to someone at toyota Europe and it seems like prior to 2002 HDJ did not have a procedure to program a key without the toyota intelligent tester II. So i need to look at other options. One is that they told me i can buy the euro version of the toyota Intelligent tester II. he will send me the part number for it. But price i found online are around 1000-1200 US!!!

Then i found this! we better watch those chinese people, they might steal our landcruiser in a heart beat (Joking)

Have a look at this...
welcome to SZH Technology Co.,Ltd.

Hmmmmm this looks interesting....if it works.
