Steel: $1400
Axle and Springs $300
2 rolls of MIG wire and a bottle of gas $85
Lunch for the build Crew $30
Letting everyone know your's is longer than Kowboy's: PRICELESS!
We spent the weekend modifying Roger's Gooseneck to carry 2 rigs and the Slide-in. We added 14ft to the ass-end in front of the dovetail and added a 3rd axle to carry the weight. We also trussed the front 20 feet to hopefully keep some flex out. Now its a 40ft deck and 49 feet overall...Dayaaaaam
Kudos to the build crew (All White Trash Members!) Roger, Rob, myself, and Clutchee.
The trailer only needs to be wired and painted, but I didn't have my camera on tuesday, so the final pics will have to wait till next week when I'm back up there. On to the pics:
In Original Form:
Unloading the steel...
Cutting off the Dovetail:
Bye Bye Dovetail, see ya in a couple days
Lining up the addition:
Welding it up and the fish plates
Day two, putting the dovetail back on, adding he crossmembers, and braces.
Rob...a walking tailking OSHA poster child
Roger and Rob "discussing" where to put the axles...this took awhile to form a consensus
End of Day two...Its a looooooooonng SOB
Adding the decking
Axles moved and welded in...
Building the Fenders... And yes, Doc...That's my new welder that you delivered to GSMTR. It took both Roger's HH175 and my new HH187 to make this project possible...we'd weld with one till we hit the duty cycle and then switch to the other, and back again, ad nauseum...It don't take too long to hit it when welding 1/4" stock...
More pics to come as soon as I get back up to the shop...
