Hey guys - need some advice. Looking for a toyota truck for my son. Found a 1991 4x4 4cyl 5 speed single owner here in town - oil has been changed every 3000 miles , never been off road - paint's great, no rust. Doesn't use oil. Looks like it has a little oil on the engine . Really looks sharp. Owner wants $4000 - seems high to me but I'm not that knowlegeable about the price on these. How does that sound? 178,000 miles.

I dont no but thats a good choice the 4cyl with the 5 speed

$4k seems kinda high to me too. Especially for a 178k miles. I guess it depends on where you are at really.
Might consider it more if it was an extra cab, or a diesel or something cool.

I bought mine in 2001 with 140K miles for $3800. Body/eng/driveline all good, pass window regulator broken(fixed in 30 min). PO's had used it only as freeway flyer, so never destroyed in off highway use. PO's also had some loser do the clutch before selling, which 10 years later cost me $1400 to fix. Now has 258K miles, still orig trans, but engine changed. Orig fuel pump works fine, but could fail and leave me stranded.

Any maintenance or repair info available for it? Original clutch? If the brakes, exhaust, etc. are in good condition, 3500-4000 isn't too bad. That's not alot of miles. It could be good for another 20 years, depending on how much you drive it.

I sold mine, a '93 with 156K miles on it, almost 4 years ago, for $5400. The guy bought it sight unseen, off Craigslist, and was positively giddy when he picked it up.

Run the truck through kbb.com. I get $1000 - $1700 for that truck. Use that price for leverage.
