Are we getting off subject here? I blame Cody. It must be his fault. It cannot be me who was excited about taking a kid to a circus. I, of course, hate kids. You can tell by my attude. That must be the reason that I take my kid to a large number of the shows in the arena. I do not like kids at all. I just have a soft spot for those smiles! But I don't like kids.

ahh cody, so it was the circus you were comming from last night? i thought maybe you were going to the country western concert.

BTW wash yer rig already.

haha - I just finished washing it before logging onto MUD...

So this weekends out since other people are going to the circus today (it was so worth the money - amazing what they can get those animals to do!)

Next weekend is the cleanup stuff and I know at least Brian and I are gonna be at that...

Im always free to meet up whenever. I got bored a few days ago and agreed to follow some younger Jeep Wrangler drivers around some different sections on Mingus. Its always fun to hear the Jeep kids make their comments about how worried they are about the Lexus not being able to make it...and then watching as they get themselves stuck repeatedly needing my help to get yanked out.

After several hours on the trail (due to the frequent rescues needed), the tally was:

Black Jeep - no more 4wd, half the fuel leaked out near the gascap (bad gasket?), and more oil burned out of that thing than I think it has a capacity for.

Red Jeep - completely destroyed rear shock. It was hanging off and they needed my tools to remove it. He also repeatedly ran through a rather large puddle up there that was around a foot or so deep, but he kept going backwards and forwards through it. I was confused of the sound you hear when a shopvac sucks up water, until he opened his hood to show me his sweet "cold air intake". I'm sure it had a lot to do with the overly obvious smell of coolant wafting from his truck as I'm sure engines don't like to drink water.

Lexus - hmm.....well I had to wash the dirt off.

Howdy! That's :doh:a shame, duh, about the dirt. John

I swear, I saw some of the worst driving, and worst everything else from these kids on the trail.

Not only were their vehicles a little too under-prepared (because they were stock or worn out, not because of the jokes about Jeeps) - but these guys attempted everything wrong.

Don't they have a Jeep Trail Team?

I wish I was filming or remembering to take pics. I saw the black Jeep high center himself repeatedly on his transmission when the red Jeep guy was spotting him.

There's many lower branches on this trail, and one kid was riding, standing up with his hands on the factory roll bar.

The black Jeep gets stuck on a section with right before a short incline. I watch as the other Jeep kids get behind him to rock and push him and scream "FLOOR IT" to the driver. Needless to say, they each get sprayed with dirt and gravel and larger rocks as they run for cover.

Red Jeep pushes black Jeep like bumper cars with their rear tires....right into a boulder twice the size of the Jeep. Red Jeep gets so frustrated, he just HAS to try to drive around the black Jeep with about 1/8" to spare at a 30 or so degree angle. Had I not stopped this, and explained how this would not only severly damage them both, but once in front of black Jeep, I'd still have to pull him back away from the giant boulder before he could make forward progress.

Red Jeep is the only one with a winch. In one of his winch attempts, I see him run the cable up into some trees and the back to the black Jeep. I'm not even sure which truck he's trying to move with the winch this way - but I assumed he had a pulley block in there somewhere. - Nope. He ran the metal winch line up into the brush, around a 1" diameter tree trunk and back to him. I almost wish I could say these kids were drunk, and that is why they thought this might work.

Its pretty much guaranteed if I hadn't agreed to run out their with these guys that there would be 2 broken and stuck Jeeps abandoned on that trail somewhere. I don't in anyway profess to be some super trail / recovery know-it-all, but its SHOCKING to see the messes people can get themselves into when they don't know anything.

I really felt like I was watching the filming of some "What not to do on the trail" video.

I'm so greatful to have learned the things I have about wheelin and recovery methods from Mud, ExPo, and FJ Trail Team guys.

Sometimes it good to help out all that you can (or you maybe out there all night!) and other times it better to grab a seat, kick back and watch the free entertainment!:D

Some Jeep people, (not all of them) seem to think that 4wd defies the laws of physics. Maybe that is why they try to use a truck with no metal in it on rough trails. Weight = grip, why is that so hard to understand? I drove a light Desert Baja for years and I understand the equasion intimately. Light weight equals no traction equals spinning tires and tearing up trails. Light weight leads to a soft truck and more breakage. With a buggy, I want light weight, in a 4wd truck, I need a lot of steel!
On the cleanup this weekend, lets get some NAZ folks together and have a little pow-wow. Look for my John Deere 80 and look me up. We can figure out when and where to meet up each month. Then I'll make the biz cards and we can go!

Don't forget the Troopie!

My wife and I will particpate as much as time will allow. The Troopie is road worthy now and we live in PV. I won't be in town this weekend and I will try and check the computer more often. I hate the bloody thing.

Any plans or ideas yet?

I'm getting anxious to wheel or BBQ or wheel or hangout in a parking lot or wheel.

Maybe we can even go wheel somewhere?

How about Saturday morning. November 3 at 10 AM? Fry's parking lot at Glassford and Florentine. Near the gas station on the corner. From there, we can gas up, and go on an adventure. PM me!

Any other ideas? Dates and times, please. Days are best for this climate. I prefer Saturday mornings for obvious reasons, but that might not work for everyone. I like Fry's for the central location. Also because they have food, ice, gas and a deli. Other auto groups meet in their lot. As long as we are clean and we buy stuff from them, it shouldn't be a problem.
Let's just find the time and get a few Cruisers together. Then we can go from there.
On here we are talking to each other, TLCA members. I went to a benefit banquet on Saturday night. There were four other Cruisers in the parking lot. Two were built for off-road. None of them were members. Those are the ones that I want to invite. This town is littered with Cruisers of every kind. We just need a local place and time to invite them to.

Cody, we have to save you from "those Jeep people". :bounce2:
Not only do they misunderstand the fragile laws of physics, but they depend on fragile trucks in which to defy them! This affair cannot last!

Well thats what I used to think...before I drank a lot tonight and taught a dead cat how to play Mariachi songs...

Do you have a tape of this? I gotta meet your cat! What was that about the laws of physics? And what are you having? Can I come over?
