Prado 13 bt conversion has it been done before, is it a reasonable option?

I have the dreaded 2lte, no head problems yet, but a definite lack of power. Also it is an automatic, based on this and the want for a 5 speed, what would it take to make this happen, $, time, and other parts.

Also what mods can be done and power potential of a 13 bt?

as far as mods for the 13b-t...why bother. It will gobs more go than the 2lte. The only thing I would do with the 13b-t is tune the turbo with a wastegate controller so you get 10-12 psi of boost. But I would leave it stock to make it last. Not have it do what the 2ltes do.

Do the conversion and write it up.

Exactly, what Brownbear says, "why bother"! Talk to the Malaysians, they put 13, 14 and 15BFTs in just anything

Does it feel that much better, wow, but come on more power is always better.
Just seeing whats out there in terms of mods.

Has anyone done this before?

why?
why install a dated engine?
IF you plan on keeping the truck for a while then go PZ or HZ and be done with it...

the 13BT will move that rig nicely down the road. i would chat with coldtaco about his conversion that is underway...

just wonder is the Prado come with the 1KZ-T ( or TE ) the 13B-T would be a real improovement .. ? and weight compared one engine to other ..

Hey wayne I am somewhat familiar with the HZ (4.2 liter NA). What is the PZ

Also I thought you said the 1HD-t wouldn't fit isn't the HZ the same length?

yep, you will need to change the front clip for the HZ, the PZ is a HZ with one cylinder loped off so it might just sqeeze in the LJ clip but no promises...

Also I thought you said the 1HD-t wouldn't fit isn't the HZ the same length?

yeap .. 1HZ and 1HD-T share the same block .. so are the same length.
