Trying to remove power steering pump:
Ran into problem with union banjo bolt. The pressure feed tube released from the pump body but not the bolt.
Tried various methods 13/16" open wrench, pipe wrench, wood blocks, vise-grips, etc. Ended up bending the tab thingie.

I was planning on rebuilding the pump instead of replacing.
However, have I fubarred the pump?
And how do I get this bolt loose?

Adding photo here....

Maybe it would be better to remove the pump with hose(s) intact and wrestle it off on the tool-bench?......

Are you holding the nut that's under the banjo bolt with another wrench? You haven't screwed up the pump the fitting the banjo screws into is unscrewing. I didn't realize that's what was happening with mine and got pissed and cut the hose.

Just cut the hose ^^^^ and remove, then get a new one...

Yes, I have tried holding it with 13/16" per Cdan in FAQ, a 15/16", and a crescent. No luck. I cant get enough leverage on it and maybe I have rounded off that nut a bit in doing so. Still contemplating cutting the hoses and I need to research replacement costs. My hoses do look to be in good shape, however.....

If I remember right the hose was expensive from Toyota. I had 1 made at a hydraulic hose place.

@ Blkprj80:
Did you just hack thru all the hoses and replace them?

If I cut this hose in order to get the pump off the truck, will I have to replace the 2 hose assembly?

I had to cut mine off due to same problem. My high pressure was weaping a bit anyways. I replaced all lines at once.

To th OP. I've heard nothing but bad feedback on aftermarket high pressure hoses fyi. They work but don't last. Buy oem. Price isn't too bad when you utilize one of our great parts guys here on mud.
Sam Stewart, or Beno.

FYI and FWIW... Unfortunately Sam Stewart is out of the OEM parts game as of yesterday.

I had the same problem when I replaced mine and cut the OEM original hose to get it off. Mine was weeping a bit too, so figured a replacement was in order. I put on the Napa replacement which I agree doesn't feel or look as beefy. It has been fine for 2 years so far.

WHAT! I just ordered parts from him yesterday at the end of day..... He didn't mention anything. Been using him for awhile now. Nice guy.

Yep. Check out his thread in the area. He explains things there

OK, I think I have all things corrected here now. Except replacement hoses?
When you guys replace or rebuild a power steering pump, which hoses do you replace for good measure or otherwise?
