Just reading the other posts, I'm running into similar fitment issues. It rubs the body and that rag gear isn't flush. I was think of raising the body like a half inch? Quarter inch? It barely rubs now, but it rubs. View attachment 4151324

I’d wrap a pair of vice clamps with tape and bend it out of the way. 10 minutes tops.
It clears the chassis but its tight, I was already looking at shimming the body up just a hair, it has new mounts but they weren't put on even. I am a little concerned with the heat displacement on the header, really the heat overall from the engine. I got this on a decent deal, a part way resto that the owner just lost steam, so past few months I've been piecing it back together. It ran and drove fine, but there's things like that I'm working on until I get back on the road.Is the pitman arm rubbing against the mount/chassis? I’m doing this conversion right now and the clearance is very small, im worried once I fully seat the pitman arm on the steering box it might hit the chassis
Also I noticed you have a header that looks a lot like the Downey header, I have one too - my clearance on that side is also so close I can’t fit the heat shield, are you worried about the box getting too hot?
Actually smaller gap at top than bottom on the rag joint, the steering shaft is angled too far down. That's on my list to do, not sure if I can shim that power steering pump up in the back to even that out.mini box and mini box pedestal?
is the rag joint angled? smaller gap at bottom and larger at top?
Don't worry about derailing anything, we're all here for the same reason, have a passion for these vehicles. I'm actually thinking about putting a different header on it, I saw a two piece that helps with heat dissipation, but then I'd have to replace my exhaust as well. I wouldn't call it a money pit, because anything spent on it adds some type of value, but its definitely easy to spend money on it. I saw another thread about people running a brass radiator, or reroded their old one. I only purchased an aluminum radiator because at some point I want to put ac on my FJ, its preference I guess on what you want to run. As long as it works.Ah interest, glad to hear you’ve got the clearance - maybe I’ll be in the same boat. I don’t want to derail your thread.. I have the same heat concerns. I wish I hadn’t added the header…

It came with the FJ, but you're right, I need to find a way to correct the angle properly.wondering if you have a wrong box or wrong pedestal?
was the pedestal made or bought?
lowering the steering wheel to adjust angle will make it difficult to get in the seat and may not be comfortable to drive
I like how that lines up, I could fabricate a different bracket, possibly that makes it sit up a little higher? I need to get measurements to know what I have to work with space wise. Thanks dudeIf you raise the body the steering column will raise also and possibly make the fit up worse. I ran a mini truck box on my 73 with a bracket I made and everything lined up and cleared. Very tight tho.
