Thank you for the info Poser

IIRC there was only one key on the Astro shaft. I almost did the die grinder trick for the flexibility, but I ended up shortening the relay rod to accomodate the keyed position since there wasn't enough adjustment in the TREs. The same 3/4" ID pipe I had laying around was used as a sleeve like I did with the steering shaft. I'll continue to use it until I switch to DOM after my future SOA. I've wheeled it twice now with a few good whacks on rocks and it has held up fine. HTH:beer:

IIRC, there is no mounting plate for the Astro PS.
The Astro PS is similar to the Scout Saginaw PS.

You have to drill and sleeve the frame at the spot the Astro PS attatches to the frame.

That is the downey and advance adapter plate.
One of the guys in my club has one and it failed recently.

Here are some pics

Thats the second one I have seen and heard that has failed. Cast is no good.

Hell,

I have seen the ears tear off of the steering gear, and it was mounted with a 3/8" thick plate welded to the frame with spacers...

If you are going to be using your truck off road, a steering box brace is all but required. There is a tremendous amount of leverage on ANY steering gear.
