I know this is a long shot but wondered if anyone has done the research on the OEM wiring harness connector for the 12v power port? I’m looking for 2016 but other years probably cross over.

Trying to buy the correct connector so as not to alter the OEM harness. Maybe someone pulled the stock power port to replace with USB’s? Connector should have a stamp with a number or triangle or say Sumitomo or Yazaki?

Looking for a connector that looks like this but just for pinning wires not attached to the port.

I know it’s a stretch but there are plenty of electrical gurus out there.

I have pulled the factory power port and swapped in USB style charger ports. I think what I did was very carefully unpin the contacts from the connector, solder some 18 ga wire to them, then snap back in place. It's less of a hack than cutting the connector off, and could be put back to factory very easily, if you need to do that.

^ Thanks. Certainly a very good option. I’m surprised no one has sourced the bits to make a good pigtail option for the group.

I might just order the power port and see what I can see. A factory plug with pigtails to run power to USB’s etc would be a good option for those that prefer not to garf up the OEM wiring.

As someone that seeks out these parts for a living, it can be one heck of a rabbit hole. I just snipped my wires:p

I had the same idea as you and actually found a connector on fee-bay:

eBay reports that connector as "not compatible" for the 200-series. Have you used it and confirm it works for the power ports?

I bought one and used for the 12v outlet in my LX. No issues but I think I remember the red wire went to the ground for some reason. I might be wrong but make sure you double check if you get one.

@DomSmith - looking at the picture of the factory ligher socket, it looks like it might be possible to separate the connector from the lighter socket. If that's the case, you might be able to disconnect the plug from the lighter socket, solder wires to it, and then plug it back into the factory harness. Then buy a replacement lighter socket in case you ever want to revert to the factory configuration. Though I can't imagine wanting to revert to the factory setup as USB power ports should be infinitely more useful in that location.

I could be wrong, but that connector being sold on eBay looks like it might be the wrong side of the connection that Dom is looking for as it looks like it's the connector that is part of the factory harness and plugs into the lighter socket while he wants a connector that plugs into the factory harness so he can replace the lighter socket with something else. It's a bit difficult to judge by the pictures though as we don't have pictures showing the most useful angle of either connector. But ~$15 with shipping isn't too much money and might be worth a try.

Yeah I guess I didn't read his post very carefully. The connector in the ebay link is the female part of connection attached to the wiring harness. It plugs into the power port. I used it because I wanted to wire the power port up to my auxiliary battery without changing the exiting wiring.

I've got a few requests for information out to some sources but may have stumbled on a quick solution to stay OEM.

It looks like the rear power port has a different configuration and might have the connector (and wires for that matter) that I am looking for...

I can't imagine Toyota would use two different connectors for the same type of item.... oh wait, yes I can.

Might just order one of these to see if it plugs in to the stock port in the front. Then I could cut off this new port and wire up the item I want to connect to the front OEM power port connector.

I know it's a lot of work, don't judge, just let my OCD reign.

Making some progress. Almost have the correct connector identified. Very close.

In the meantime I ordered the rear power port with the pigtail. If it's got the right connector I can clip that off and re-purpose the power port on one of my other rigs.

This post also has some good info which suggests worst case scenario I can pull off the white plug connector and pin it as needed with the correct terminals...

Have almost all the Toyota part numbers sorted as well as the manufacturer part #’s. Will post once complete.

In the meantime for those that don’t want to pin out connectors or don’t have the proper crimping tools this would probably work well for multiple applications:

Amazon product ASIN B07TM4DPQS

Looks to pigtail into the power port without eliminating it. Not sure if it would support multiple devices charging from the port and 2 more quick charge devices on the OEM wiring? No guarantees this fits the OEM blanks but my research suggests they are 20mm x 32mm (like these) or 20mm x 32.5mm which is damn close.

You could probably easily use just the wiring from this if you wanted to use different USB ports. I have not confirmed fit but the review states plug and play on a 2009 Corolla which uses the same power port part # as my 2016.

Either way this is one option for people to not have to splice into the OEM wiring.

Well, that is pretty slick, if it works as well as they say. It won't fit in the existing hole for the power port (the age-old square peg in a round hole problem), but I suppose you could find another place to put it.

Yeah, it is clearly intended to add extra power ports, not replace the factory one. To me, the bigger win is getting the correct factory plugs so no cutting or splicing if the factory harness is needed.

I still haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for but getting closer. Two steps forward one step back. That plug should fit the blanks near the knees but not an ideal location for USB cords.

I’m hoping to find a round 2 USB port that has one for audio/data with a USB cable on the back and the other that is QC 3.0 that is wired to the power port wiring.

If nothing else this thread may be of assistance for those that want to tap into the power port without garfing up the wiring. The amazon one above I just ordered should work for the rear port too. Worst case I just use the wiring.

I will follow through on the separate part numbers as well for reference.
