This is an issue on my 1995 FZJ80 with 355k miles
I’ve had this problem for a few days now. On my commute to work, truck runs perfectly. After a stormy day in the office, on my commute home, this problem starts. The engine seems to choke on startup, and then even when I floor the gas, no
owner is made past what would be a high idle. It feels like it’s not getting air or fuel, but the airways are clear and the fuel pump and filter were replaced two months ago (and seem to be pumping). EGR isn’t leaking from what I can tell. Coolant is leaking (I only mention because I wondered about headgasket). Oil seems to be leaking more than normal and I think I can smell it in the exhaust.
A couple off things, if I hammer it off the line at a red light it seems to be smooth once it climbs the gear cycle. Inevitably though, it always reverts to the issue. Also, if pushing revs is when it doesn’t want to make power, I’ll take my foot off the gas and the needle drops at free fall rather than winding down.
I’ll attach a video of me staying on the gas to give an idea of what’s happening. And yes, that’s the engine making that stuttering noise
