Cant figure out how to post the video, but I got the truck running on the 4th. Took it out for its first shakes down run today and it drove perfectly. Sitting a few leaks and random issues.

I've been working on the truck, but haven't been posting updates. After getting everything running and road tested, I sent the truck to RJs Custom Piping in Raleigh. They did a fantastic job building me a 3" mandrel bent exhaust system. Space was very tight and they routed the exhaust exactly the way I asked them and tucked everything as high as possible. I'm extremely impressed by their work and the job they did.

Haven't updated the build in a while... Extremely happy with the engine/transmission combo. Have a good baseline for power and running at this point. Easily able to cruise at 75-80mph with power to pass.
Have several more projects planned. In the short term, I plan to reinstall the insulated hood, change the timing belt, install an old school HKS turbo timer, and a couple other small projects.
In the mid-term, I plan on getting the air conditioning up and running. There's an industrial hose shop here in town that's going to make the hoses to connect the VM a/c system connected to the 1HDT
Compressor.
In the long-term, I have acquired a hydraulic A442F and will be modifying it to accept a split transfercase from the 70 series. I do not like the full time 4WD system of the 80 series. The current A442F is controlled by a Compushift II. Very happy with it, but want to keep it simple and avoid electronics where possible.

Recent projects include new radio and boost and EGT gauges. I also installed some very bright LED lights in the back. It's a cage back there when it's dark.

Don't know if you know or not but there is a kit to convert your full time 4wd to part time.
Hey!
Yes, I know about the part time kit. The shifter and hi-low shifter and location are from an 80 Series. After seeing the "Cup Holder?" thread with all the pics, I want to have a 70 series shifter setup with console in my truck. Aside from the aesthetics, I like the more simple 4WD/hi-low lever system of the 70 series. It is easier/cleaner to do the wiring from the 70 Series transfercase as it pretty much plugs right in. My truck originally has a non-vacuum 4WD transfer case. I think that shifter system will be a little harder to get installed than a vacuum system. I'll experiment with both but am leaning towards the vacuum 4WD split case.

@chrisspaulding ..... "Love those 80s vintage wheels!!!"

All of the cool Cruisers have them. :)

I had the vacuum actuated transfer before the swap. I just hooked up the wires from the 2H/4H motor of the 80 transfer to the 4H switch for the vacuum transfer. Unfortunately my project still isn't on the road.
