I love my gearing with 31x10.5 and 3.70 diffs. Good balance of acceleration (well, for a cruiser) and top-end gearing. I had 7.50r16s on it for a trip and felt like the gears were a little too tall. I also have an H41 though which is a bit different.

Someday I'd like to go with H55F, 4.11s, 235x85r16s, and 4:1 t-case gears, but that probably won't be for a while.

31s with a 4 speed. 30s with a 5 speed.

I don't plan on wheeling Poppy AT ALL.. Going to the lake or camping is about all she might see. So either tire will work for me.

Now I'm wondering if I want to install a lift or not.... May just order a set of stock height springs and put new shocks on....

I've been looking for stock height springs because honestly I prefer to keep it low. The only ones I've seen cost at least double what OME springs would.

$662 for stock height springs from Suspension King
$740 "" "" "" SD Truck spring

Still need shocks, bushings and possibly shackles.

My springs still have a little bow in them, not flat YET, but the ride is FANTASTIC...

Well you're a little better off than me then. I have about 1" of upward travel left and it bottoms out any time I hit a pothole or bump going more than like 30km/h.

I'm just gonna leave this here:

One of my friends/customers purchased a complete combo but he's having to deal with some medical issues and won't be able to build his dream 60 ....... so the power train is for sale.

Complete 1HZ-H55F-Splitcase combo.
12 volt unit
Includes engine, starter, alternator, bell housing, flywheel, clutch, Trans and Tcase.
We did a dry and wet compression test showing very even compression. Numbers were in the high 400s.
We also test fired the engine and it ran great.
This is a Canadian engine so it's got some mild corrosion but not bad at all. I've seen much much worse.
The combo has 10k hours on it. That's about the equivalent of 100k miles. These units run at high idle most of the day and are only driven at low speeds due to the very strict speed limits at the facilities.

Good deal for someone, no doubt. Just don't have time for that much of a project currently.

So, Jason, you're not going to tear into this and go crazy with mods?,,,,,, You ever hear the story of the scorpion and the frog?

Also, I'm pretty sure 60 clutches are self adjusting. Thhe slave doesn't have the adjusting nut like a 40

Sorry, I'm talking about the pedal adjustment. If I can't get it where I want it, Ill drop the transmission, swap in a new AISIN kit and then might as well replace the oil pan gasket and RMS too.

I have a feeling the clutch is the original.....

J

Early FJ60's have an adjustment at the pedal and slave (at least mine does) :)

5 Speed swaps are also a bit more involved (unrelated to previous). btdt

J.... why not just throw on some long AALs on the stock springs, new bushings and shocks. 31's and rock it. Ride might suck, but cheap :hillbilly:

No, I'm actually excited to maybe get to enjoy a 60 for a change... HA!

I'm already talking myself out of a lift for it..

I can't leave anything stock....it is a sickness. I even went to a bigger tire on my wheel barrow. I'm pretty sure
if I ever get so old I'm In a wheel chair... It will have Crawlers a light bar and a locker

I'll look at the slave next week, I don't think Marley (10/85) had an adjustment on the slave. Been too long since I messed with it. I thought about AALs as well. It rides good right now. It needs shocks. So, I will start with the minimal and go from there.

Understand and believe me........... Its REALLY HARD not to make a few phone calls as usual and have a plethora of deliveries over the next few weeks..

Marley was an 85, "easy" 5 speed swap right? Would have had the version Dave is speaking about above (non-adjustable slave).

I just went back and paged through that thread... ahhh memories
