I've been debating on what tires to get for my rig since the day I bought her and I've decided to go with BFG M/T's

Expensive, yes, but I've heard nothing but good things about them :)

Anyhoo, I'll be going with 305/70/16's on the OEM wheels and height (lift is still a few months away), but I'd like to see some pix of this size (or bigger if you have them) on rigs without a lift....

anyone?

You really have to compare these two. I have the Firestone's and they are far better than the BF Goodrich IMO

Look at the reviews and the specs. Higher pressure, better load capacity and so

315's fit nicely, surprisingly. I don't have any pics yet but highly recommend. I also can't tell any difference in acceleration between 285's. I don't know how to explain it but it's true. I know of atleast 2 other people with 315's and stock gears. One even has the 3fe. I recommend the Maxxis Bighorn or Summit Mud Dawg(same tire) for a good street and off road tire over the BFG. You'll save $100-$250 going this way.

Thanks everyone for sharing. My BFG 305 M/T are now in my garage. :)

I'll post some pix when I have them on mine.

how loud are these tires compared to AT's? and whats the mileage life estimated on them?

Looks nice, I found a set of Toyo MT's in this size for a great deal, glad I found this thread. Now to decide if the 80 is going to be for me or the wife. :)

Hi there,

I am trying to make sure that you all are mounting these 305's on stock rims. I have a '96 LX 450 that has 285's on it now, up from the recommended 265's. I would love to put 305's on, but the tire shops keep telling me that I will need to replace the rims as well. Please let me know if I can do this like you all did. Thanks!

I went with the 305/70/16 Swamper SSR's and love them! They measure out to a 34 and look good. I have been very impressed with them off road so far...

I'll have to get some pictures and post them up!

Stock wheels, stock sagging springs, no rubbing :)

Thanks!

One last thing, sorry.

I just wanted to make sure there's only one OEM rim size. I could not find a ref in the manual for 2nd rim size, just tire size. I will have my little girl in my truck with me so I am being a nutty parent, I know! Thanks for understanding!

There is only one stock rim size for 1996, 16"x8"

To be certain you can confirm by looking at the numbers cast into the "windows" of the wheels, one window will say TOYOTA, others will have other markings, you can check the tire manufacturers web site to be sure the tire you want to run will work with that size.

91/92 had 15" wheels, I think x7"
