Accidents happen we all know that, that’s why you have insurance. Unless you are being chased down, the purpose to have a gun on or near is self-defense. Not to attack the dumb ass that rear ended you.

Because in IN I can carry and don't always want it in my back or hip but like to have it with me. So a safe and accessible way would be to mount it in reach. I used to keep it in the map pocket on the door of my other vehicle and now I want a permanent one for the cruiser.
Second Amendment brother

I care at my hip all the time, but I will like one extra next to me permanent on my cruiser to :D! Check www.galls.com !

I am a cop in Texas and have been carrying an extra handgun in my vehicle for years. I have had a Ford Ranger, Ford Expedition, Chevy Suburban, Volkswagon Beetle (don't ask...my daughter starts driving it soon) and soon to be Land Cruiser. I have always had an easy time getting a pancake holster and screwing it to the under side of the dash below the steering wheel. Totally out of sight and easily obtainable. ......and to answer the question "why" ...because I will likely never need it because I have it - Murphy's Law would actually mean I would need it because I don't have it.

First at all, welcome a board and don't forget to share with us your cruiser picture :hillbilly:. What cruiser you have in mind to buy?

That is a great ideea to keep the gun handy!

Kaoscruizer...I feel the same way you do.

Just acquired another shotgun that I'll be carrying off the beaten path soon...Dominion Arms 12G Grizzly (magazine fed, folding stock, ghost ring sights, 18" barrel) and four mags.

Shouldn't be too hard to store this in the Cruiser. :)

No, if you cut in two or four parts :flipoff2:!
Nice tool !

At least spell my name right if you are giving me props.

Corrected. Damn microsoft spell checker.

To quote the late great (and American) Bill Hicks:

...England, where no one has guns: 14 deaths. United States, and I think you know how we feel about guns: 23,000 deaths from handguns. But there's no connection, and you'd be a fool and a comunist to make one. There's no connection between having a gun and shooting someone with it, and not having a gun and not shooting someone. . . . And those 14 were probably caused by American tourists...

And there you go .. another Liberal pokes his nose into something he knows nothing about. Sheeple like you are the reason we have lost our rights. Do me a favor and explore the facts before you simply cut and paste someone's misguided thought process in your post. If you think they do such a great job of gun control in England, by all means .. PACK YOUR BAGS!

I am a CCW holder as well and I was looking to mount mine. I am looking at the space between the console and the drivers seat for my handgun. The shotgun I only use when I am hunting and I flip the 2nd row seats up and have one of the "sleeves" that go around the headrest and then I slide my shotgun in there. The 2nd row seat HAS to be up for this to work, otherwise the gun hits the rear door when I slide it out and slows me down. I am interested in seeing your permanent mount.

I am not a fan of mounting it where it can be seen looking through the window. I never leave it in the vehicle unless I enter a bank or other government building and I have to leave it in the truck.

Nothing like a good gun question to bring a rook out.
Welcome:flipoff2:

I tried to put my gun between the seat and center console but didn't seem like enough room and got in the way of the parking brake and not enough room to get my hand around it.

Yeah, I've been looking for a place to put mine too... so far I just keep it in the center console. I think the best spot for me would be under the front seat where I can reach it and it can't be seen, but I don't think it will fit.

I gotta find one of those overhead LEO lockers .. that's the ticket for me anyway. Great thread! Maybe I could get one fabbed up??

The man didn't ask anybody's opinion on to carry or not! :censor:

He asked where to mount his weapons. So answer the :censor: question! :flipoff2:

If I were going to wheel a stock Prius around Moab I sure hope someone on the forum would speak up and let me know why it isn't a good idea.
:)

I 100 percent agree. Remember however that one of the main reasons for having a pistol in the car is defense against carjacking/robbery. In many places around the world it is a common tactic for criminals to cause a collision in an attempt to disable your vehicle and then rob you.

I have so much bile in my mouth because of you, I am choosing not to get in a gun control argument with a Canadian. It's not your country, so F off.

At the risk of further flames (take your fingers off the triggers), I never once stated not to carry. I simply quoted a very funny man. Your colourful response makes me wonder...

I'm quite happy here in Canada where I do not know one single person that sees any need to permanently mount a weapon in their vehicle.

If no one can see the humour in Hick's quote (whether the numbers are slightly exagerated or spot on), then you are all taking life FAR TOO SERIOUSLY.

My first priority in having a gun in the truck is to have it concealed. Either that, or you take it out with you everywhere you go. Having it in a lockbox would work, but you would have the freedom to take it out and put it in an accesible place while you're in the car.

I agree. When I go to lunch with friends, I don't want my coworkers seeing it. One, if I'm parked on company property, it's against policy, two, I don't want to have the pointless gun control conversations like what's going on here. I'm one of them gun toat'n liberals ya' know. Three - I don't want to carry into every where. Including picking child up from daycare. Even concealed there are places I don't want to risk people noticing. I also don't want it visible to my 4 year old. Why make the temptation?

Anyway - you can have it secured and easily accessable

Combine either one of those with a tuffy center console, and you're golden.

mount where the radio in the tuffy normally goes. If you did it in front, it'd still be hard to steel, and easy to access, but would tip your hand that there was something of value there. Solution to that with the gunvault is just put a fabric cover over the front of it, that looks like a storage pouch. But instead you put your hand in there and unlock it.

At the gun show in Tulsa (the biggest in existance according to 'them') - I've seen a guy with boxes with the titan style opening that then have the gun in a poly holster, and the gun and holster are on air springs, so when you unlock the door, the whole thing pops right up to grab. Or if they are horizontal, they have a drawer that slides out, that you then just pick your gun up off of.

If you have a little time and skill, or a little money, just replace your double din stereo with a single din, and put a compact 9mm in there (I don't think a full body 1911 would fit).

You can have a pistol easy to access and safely secured in your vehicle, you just have to think about it. I have a solution that I won't share, cause I wont' post to the net where I keep my gun.

Mostly in the glove box, more discreet.

But, I did something similar to what Landpimp (I think) originally did, I recycled an old Safariland paddle holster and the gap right below the steering wheel holds it pretty good:meh:
