A friend got delta bumpers all around and gave me his perfect arb. Amazing guy to do something so nice for me, and his rig looks seriously incredible. Hoping he posts it here sometime. Got the winch mounted to it and slapped it on.

I’ve been collecting components for a J spring lift and got the front installed this evening. Had a bit of a scare when the truck slipped off the jack. It bent up the hard brake lines on the back of the front axle pretty good but they seem ok. I’ll replace them when I do the extended lines.

Tomorrow the rear will go on and then I’ll drive down to the tire shop and get my Toyo open country 315s installed.

nice to see visible changes finally happening.

Gave it a good wash. From a distance it looks pretty decent. Still need to give it a good polish and hit it with a clay bar before I go scratch it up on the trails. It drives GREAT and not nearly as slow as I thought it would be. The caster drop brackets make it feel like stock. The j springs are very stiff but I don’t mind. Was able to pass emissions after replacing the rear O2 sensor and got it tagged. I think I’m going to call it “Rexy” because the plate I got starts with “rxe”. Still lots to do. This weekend I’ll be pressure washing the carpet and lining the interior for sound and heat. feeling really good at this point. It’s been a long road to get here.

A good, thorough cleaning is always good. I've never done it but need to. When you pull the carpet is it glued down or once all the fasteners are removed it just slides out? Any major prep before (besides sweeping/vaccuming) putting the sound deadener down?

No it’s not glued down but the jute padding underneath was nasty and stuck to the floor from soda and other gunk that had soaked through over the years. It is glued to the underside of the carpet and requires a stiff wire brush to remove. I swept and pressure washed the floor and then got to work with simple green and a rag to get it clean enough to lay down the dynamat.

Probably worth an update as things are beginning to get interesting...

Finally installed my Lseat leather. Not a bad job, just tedious. Turned out great. Ordered new bottom foam too.

Also got out in some woods with a few buddies.

Now, the fun part. I finally got around to getting my welder set up and ordering some parts.

Just mocking up to get the positioning right. This is the old trashed engine that came out of the truck originally. Been kickingit around for almost 5 years thinking I would do something with it. Notice my highly specialized bolt spacer...

Of course, I have some expert help too.

Well after a few test welds I decided it would be better to have my friend weld it up for me as he works in a piping shop and has much better skills than I do.

Also got a deal on this bad boy. Hoping to go completely stand alone as some of the boys down under have successfully figured out how to control the trans with this.

One more thing:
Anyone thinking of running a stand alone or parallel ECU has probably spent some time looking for a patch harness which no longer exists. I am happy to report that THIS GUY MAKES THEM.

Super nice guy to deal with and price is reasonable. Apparently the connector manufacturer is making the header connector obsolete so they are hard to get ahold of.

That turbo - from what I can see it’s oil & water cooled; internal waste gate; built in BOV; boost solenoid?; twin scroll?;

Wow! Impressed I am!

Borgwarner 7670. Ceramic ball bearing, internal wg twin scroll. I somehow scored a deal on it on craigslist and it’s been sitting on my shelf for a couple years.

Are you looking to fit an intercooler? A lot of the Aussie turbo guys have gone FMIC.

If you’re going to use the BOV have you worked out the plumbing? I suppose depends on answer to the above 🤔

I have a Haltech on my supercharged Tacoma, and it is better than anything that I have tried, piggyback, stand alone, 7th injector, etc. Nothing compares to the Haltech.
If you can get the Haltech working with the trans, it will be a great option for the turbo and supercharged FZJs around here.

yes going with front Mount just like our friends down under. The bov was just an extra he threw in, the efr turbo has a built in recirc valve and wg.

Ic plumbing is the next big challenge. Might run low psi at first just to get things working and then do the ic.

That’s good to hear. I had planned on the 750 but this 2500 popped up on marketplace for about the same price so I snagged it.
