So my little guy is a little over 2 years old now, and rides in the forward facing car seat for 25 - ~45 lbs.

He LOVES riding in the Pig, and I love taking him for rides.

Problem is that the front seat prevents his feet from hanging down when he rides in his car seat in the rear. He puts his feet up on top of the front seat, but the :princess: does not like this at all, is convinced it is unsafe.

He is a ways away from fitting in the 45lb booster seat, so what can I do to keep the little guy riding safely in the Pig?

Is he in the back seat? He should be.
I dont see how his feet sitting on the seat bottom being a hazard.
Ive been wondering about my kids riding in our 55, One has a booster and the other is still in a car seat, But both use the seat belt not the car seat restraints, With the 55 only having lap belts, Im not too sure how well this is going work out, But I guess a seat belt is better than nothing :)

that happens in my 80 TJ, if someone is in the front seat he can easily rest his feet on the back of it. seems ok to me. when no one is there I move the seat way up.

My 69 Pig has the big rollbar behind the front seats, I wonder how much room I will have...

Not sure about the car seat, but we installed shoulder belts for kids in the booster seats. I used a wrangler roll bar and cut it off just below seat height in the back. I then installed Crow 4 point harnesses using the roll bar for a mount point for the shoulder straps. Here are some pix. The first is of the belts, the second you can see the roll bar. I mounted it to the seat brackets on the wheel wells. Kids like the harnesses because they're for "racing and 4 wheeling."

I should qualify - he is in the backseat, secured using the center 2 point lap-belt.

The issue is when he is in his car seat, the back of my front seat is in the way of his feet. So he either has to scrunch up his legs by bending his knees (I don't think that sounds good) or he puts his feet on top of front seat back. Does that make sense?

Here are pics of what I mean - my little gy ends up with his feet on the back of the front bench seat.

Does anyone else have this (besides Timm)?

The :princess: is convinced this is dangerous...

I borrowed a different seat from his little girlfriend (thus the pink) and it does offer more room, but hae can still jam his feet againt the front seat.

Should I worry about this, or let it go?

the bigger issue is the little dude is in a pink car seat!!

;)

I have not put Ty in the back seat yet, I have a smaller booster I put in the front for now, just for quick trips to the store. I don't think there is a big issue with his feet touching, but I am no expert. I would go to one of those places that installs car seats for you and see what they think. Only an expert can tell us for sure...

You may want to find a seat like the pink one that would work for you. I have the dual shoulder/lap belt set up from wesco. My kids (4 & 8) seem to like 'em. We started the 4 year old when she was three and 35#. It's hard to keep their feet off the front seat, Good luck! ty

3rd row seat

our youngest 2......4 & 6 enjoy iding in the pig and having their feet resting on the back of the front seat.........in the :princess: 60 have a 3rd row rear facing seat that they love.........got a fold and tumble 3rd row for the pig from Lance at IPOR but have not had time to install it..........hate when work gets in the way of fun stuff:frown:..........but the 3rd row seat from IPOR is a good option HTH

Now that it is 4 years later...

Getting ready to get the Piggy mobile, and by now the kid is riding in a booster seat.
I think these are supposed to be used with a 3 point belt in the rear, vs. the 2 points back there currently...
Looking for any new ideas?
