Does anyone have a pic of a stock radio installed in their pig? Specifically a 72 or are they all the same? I have a radio that cool cruisers sent and am not sure that it is the right one. The tuner does not turn the little orange thing and I am not sure it works. The green light lights up tho!!

I will tinker with it to get it going if it is the right one

A PO has cut the radio hole in my pizzle a bit and it will take some work to get it back to the correct way.....Any help would be appreciated.

Holy Radio Hole

So this is my radio slot. At some point someone cut it to put theier CD player in it. :bang:

I am assuming I need to bend those tabs back so the radio can hold onto the two tabs. Does anything hold the back of the radio? I am also wondering if this is even the correct radio because there is no "face plate' that will hold the radio to the front of the radio slot.

Any ideas on bending this metal? Thanks all for the help.

Yes, you need to bend the metal back into place. The tabs hold the radio. There are only two screws that hold the radio and then the front simply rests in the hole in the dash. It doesn't need a faceplate. The radio you have is the right one.

I'm not sure how the early dash goes together but if that section is removable I'd replace it rather than try to fix it. There are enough parts piggies out there.

I had the dash apart at one point to paint it and as I recall it is a pretty big piece. I will check again, but pigs of any kind are tough to find around here! If anyone reads this and has the piece in question, shoot me a PM....

Thanks!!

Radio works. Took it apart and oiled some of the parts and adjusted the tuner. Everythng is golden! Hooked a speaker up to it and listened to the soothing sounds of the 1970s....

Can anyone tell me about where the stock speaker went?

Thanks
Randy

Ige, when did the speakers move to the rear cargo area?

No clue. never had one that had speakers there. i've had 69, 71, 72, 75, 76 and a roofless 79

i have seen them with the same grill like the one under my dash, but in the passenger footwell area. not sure if that was stock or not.

The wire harness on the 78 has two wires for a speaker PS in the rear FWIW

My '76 is the same way. I added a speaker mount to the other side when I did the resto and I think that was a '74 body that had the mounts.

I dont suppose anyone would have one of those speaker screens laying around? I think I am am going to rock the AM radio......all I do is listen to AM sports radio anyway!

Ige, rookie question for you......in the photo in post #10, what is the knob mounted at the lower left end of the dash and what does it control??.....is that the hand throttle I have heard about or some kind of vent?? Thanks in advance. -Lee

Vent...

Yep the early ones had a vent on that side that goes to the outside vent above the fender . Its a nice option for sure.

There is also a vent in the center of the dash as well.
