Picture needed - I am halfway there

Looking for some help.

I need to re-create the mounts/assembly that clamps to the driver's seat for a Non removable top 64 SWB. What I am looking for are a couple of pictures that show the rear mounting points and the frame that the front seat frame rest's on. I have the upper frame and seat assembly, just need an idea of how the rest of it looks.

Thanks,

Tony's pumpkin truck

Sorry, mine's a removable top. can't help you there.

halfway there-

After a few cold 's and getting frustrated with the possibility of another delay- in getting some paint on this thing. I decided that I was just going to have to make my own Dang brackets if I want to see this thing get done. So this is what I came up with.

FJ45 SEAT FRAME 1.webp

FJ45 SEAT FRAME 2.webp

FJ45 SEAT FRAME 5.webp

another small victory won in the garage late at night..... Now I just need to deal with the front end

Those look just fine Tim.:)

Form follows function.

Tim,

Good job there Sir!! Nicely done!

Looks pretty sharp to me.....now lets see some paint on that baby!

Hey! Tim you're not allowed to have all that fun while I'm working! When we're all done I'm gonna buy you a body for your rig (avatar).

Thanks for the help to those that replied and boosting the morale a little....and of course Tim for making the mounts.

.....paint? ...hmmm, I wonder what color its gonna be ;)

We gotta accellerate this build Becker. Those two pigs out loose in the back forty are getting wild and I smell bacon.

I'm a little confused. Do do know that's a 63 or earlier driver's seat? In the 1964 when the tool box size changed the seat design and location of the latches changed too. If the size of the tool box cover is the same a a FJ40 any LHD driver's seat from a 1964 thru the 1972 model year FJ40 should fit right in. On the brackets you made for the floor those look like brackets from a mid 1960 FJ25 thru the 1972 model year FJ40.

Does anybody have a picture of a 1964 FJ45 SWB passinger's seat bottom? Does it have a little kick out on the right side in front of the gas filler neck or does it match the FJ40 of the same year? Could you post a picture of the filler neck from inside the vehicle. I'm just wondering if it's the same as the FJ40 or is it's different like the FJ45 removeable top.

The fixed-top 45 passenger seat cushion does NOT have the extra 'kick out' in front of the filler neck that the removable top 45s from 64 on.

That said, the 77 set I have does not have the kick out either. So it changed....and changed back again!

Thread hijack OVER.:)

Thanks Mark. That's what I thought. Toyota kept things pretty simple in the early with the production number so low compared to today's standards. Is the gas tank the same as a FJ40 on the 1964?

John

The gas tank it self iis the same, but the filler neck comming out of the tank has a different bend to it. The 40 filler neck has a sharper bend to it, the 45 filler is less of a bend due to where the filler meets the body.

Is this for the non-removeable top FJ45s? I've got the removeable top gas tank and know the difference. I just know the location of the opening in the cab is different between the two and would see a picture of the earlier style.

A little history on the truck- It is a 64 non-removable top and I am thinking the seats were not original to the vehicle and may have come from another vehicle. The seats were in the back bed of the truck and someone had welded some channel across the bottoms of the passenger side for some unknown reason.

My first cruiser was a 71 FJ40 factory soft top I had 20 years ago and I recall a similar set up for the seat mounting points. But again, I am going from a hazy memory and we all know how that goes.

So where is Tamecula at? I got a set of seats from a 64 FJ40 I got a while back. They need work but the fames are good. If we could work out a mudship, make a donation to Gene's 45LV fund and there yours.
