After a few cold 's and getting frustrated with the possibility of another delay- in getting some paint on this thing. I decided that I was just going to have to make my own Dang brackets if I want to see this thing get done. So this is what I came up with.

:

don't know the non removable top and my 65 removable doesnt' ahve the toolbox, but it looks a lot like the fj40, which hooks onto the toolbox to hold the seat down (where the 2 screw patterns are on each side of the center "latch").

Hey ! I damn near had a use here...

Mine's a '64 SWB Non-removeable. It's out at Mark Whatley's shop right now though getting some steering work done. Should have 'er back tamale and I'll snap some pics of whatever you want if you still need 'em.

Here are a handful of pics to get you rolling, Tim.

The original idea was to snap a few pics for your use and then as I got into the swing I got sidetracked by the zillion things that seem to need attention.

Firstly, here's a pic of the passenger side forward mounts. Sorry about the quality but you get the idea.

The mount nearest the fuel tank inlet.

Photo taken from passenger door of how the rear mount fits on the driver's seat. That little chained clip is what you've replaced with a cotter key. Coincidentally I found the little fart that's been stinking up my cab. The PO had a bottle of some kind of miracle odor neutralizer in the glovebox. It didn't work miracles though on our pall mighty mouse.

Friends, we are gathered here together to witness the interment of our friend the rat bastard.

This pic is taken with the driver's seat leaned forward and that's the outboard rear seat mount you see partially obscured by a homegrown speaker box.

Driver's side underseat tool box.

Another angle of same.

A few of the seat. Don't know what that dimple is for in the front frame bar of the seat. It's threaded though, IIRC.

A closer pic of the mounting hdwe for rear of driver's seat.

Rear mounts attached to floor for driver's seat. This works as a quick disconnect and the driver's seat can be removed in 15 seconds without tools.

And an angle or two of something you didn't ask for. This is the trim that goes around the inside of the rear section of the cab and trims out the windows.

It's made of a pressboard material with the standard familiar pattern on the back and a different texture on the exposed side, sort of like some ceiling tile's irregular texture.

My camera truly sucks. That, or I need less cafiene.

It looks to me like your homemade bracket is just right except that the vertical portion is about an inch or so too far from the bolts. Shorten that up so the seat's front mounts will align with the tool box's clasps. The driver's and passenger's seats fit together tightly.

On another note, unless you've got really short legs and a really REALLY long torso you'll be having trouble getting enough room for your legs to operate the pedals and you'll be just barely seeing over the lower edge of the window opening. That padding is beat. I've got a couple extra inches in the seat portion on mine and an extra inch in the back.

You are awesome- thanks for the pictures-

God da*n! ...now thats what I'm talking about. Great reply!

had to jump in here Legion, its actually my truck and Tim is helping immensely, so I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate the time you took to help us.....and including those inner trim piece pics and rear window pics.

Gonna find a way to get those flexible particleboardlike things made - got that under control but I'm not sure if the box of parts has the rear window clasps in it and those pics might come in real handy.

Let us know if we can help you in return. Thanks again!

Aaron

Glad to help ! If those window clasp things aren't in your box of parts I wouldn't be too bummed. They suck. A dowel in the trough of the rubber molding would cost way less and do a far better job.
