cheers

ps worse tyre ever btw!

Interesting that y'all're getting the 275s too. Those P-rated Grandpukes were not even close to the best all position tire, but several of us beat the crap out of them, switched onto multiple LC80 vehicles for off-season hwy driving and I think they held up pretty well considering.

Finally getting around to 255s. I am ordering the split rims (25 each) and hope to have 255/85 r 16 BFG KM2s installed within the next month. I will post pictures once complete.

Where is the best place to get lug nuts?

Thanks,

That's why 275/70/18's are the best of BOTH worlds :D

What about reduced braking surface area?

Never thought about it til recently but would not a skinnier tire reduce your braking effectiveness.
going down that much in contact size might be problematic on wet asphalt or concrete, especially given the demure size or our vehicles?

Napa has lug nuts. Probably not 30 of them in stock, but they can order the rest.

why KM2's and not Maxxis Bighorns? the Maxxis is a much better tire, IMO.. I would do those again. no 100 pic, sorry, have to deal with a taco...

BTT.... only 2 photos in this thread.

Anyone else running 255/85s? Any other thoughts on 285/75 vs 255/85 for a stock height '99 that will see some light offroading, forest service roads, etc but far more trips to the grocery store and Target?!

Also, if you post photos please post your suspension setup. I've been searching through lots of old threads and most photos posted don't always list the suspension and size specs which makes it difficult to judge.

Thanks!

I really wanted to go this route, but my wallet wasn't really supporting it and I couldn't justify the more offroad oriented tires just for weekend trail use. From the numerous people that I spoke with, mostly 80 series folk, they said that the handling can be somewhat compromised on the skinnier tire and cornering must be done a bit slower, and we have a larger vehicle than they do so that pretty much solved it for me.

I sprung for 285/75's and could not be happier. They haven't affected the way that I drive (aggressively) in any way, save for mileage. If it matters, I went for the Treadright Guard Dog M/T. They're loud as hell but I'm in love with the performance so far. Plus they gave me a 5th for free and half off shipping! They mounted an balance perfectly, even in the configuration that they don't recommend (I hate having visible weights on the outside of the wheel).
