I drove past the park Monday and thought about taking a short jaunt up to the bald. It would have been crazy to run into everyone. I decided not to since I had a canoe on top of the FJC and thought better...

dang tommy ....sorry bout that. total bums here. Forgot to schedule a ride for some springs from aville to rdu too. Actually wasnt planning on going till late last week when some weekend plans fell thru. Yeah thats a cross. Some less than brilliant person has ground into the large stone formation there and added a monument stone to Ole Pappy i think it be kinda funny if the USFS tracked down the relatives to deliver a nat'l forest vandalization ticket. A stone obelisk in the field wouldnt bother me at all.....but why they had to go ruin a perfectly good rock formation is beyond me. oh and ive never eaten so many blueberries in my life

It was a great weekend, great weather until the monsoons hit Sunday night. The trails are getting generally gnarlier. Did Rough Butt lower, Shocksnapper, Bear Camp and some others. The Shortcut has gotten completely out of hand. An Exo-d Buggy might make it. Mud Ledge is no longer Difficult, more like Cupcake, somebody has filled it in with logs.

I'm ready to go again, anytime.

That club is open to all BTW. I posted for a LURP (Lunatic Upstate Recon Patrol) run Labor Day weekend back in early summer. No takers and the thread got buried. It was on a thread about trail maintenance and scouting up there. It's buried so deep I couldn't even find it today.
I'll definitely PM you next time I go. We try not to put too much out in public to keep down the tourists and pressure on the holy land. Also when we do a LURP it takes disregard for body damage That's part of the buy in. Lift, tires and winch a must. Lockers a plus. We tend to go where no UC has gone before. One snatchout, one winchout and two body damages this weekend. Oh yeah and a broken radio aerial
