Gene had asked for the coordinates for the lunch spot. This would be a perfect camping spot, especially in high winds.
Here they are: N33 17.893 W116 01.686

Hey, I started the thread, so keep it going how you want!
I talked to Dylan at Icon(Donahoe Racing back then) and he said that the monotube shocks for their F-250 lifts would work great on the LC. So that might be where I am going![]()
We'll be carrying Fox schtuff in our shop.Slomo said:I didn't have the money to replace them with another set of the Billie's so I threw on some Pro Comp 9000's as a temporary solution until I can afford the Fox's that I too so desire.![]()
I was not going to hi-jack but if you insist.
Funny you should mention that. I mounted up a set of the Bilstiens from my friends F-250 4" Donahoe lift on mine late last year. They ride incredible on road, I can't explain enough how much better than the OME's they are. They still handle off road much like the OME's at speed and softer but with no excessive body roll at crawling speed. I have been very happy with them.
I used JKS TJ adaptors top and bottom in the front with 2" bumpstop extensions on the OEM frame mounted bumpstops and they are perfect. I use full extension and the springs unseat about 3-4" and leave about 3" of shock travel at full compression (springs removed and rig weight on bumpstops). In the rear I made the upper shock mounts to copy FJBen's idea. I measured these out the same as the front and I figured I would have 1/4" left on the shock bottomed out. Close but it should work. Unfortunately I forgot that the shock body would not fit inside the new upper mount and that essentially took another 1 3/4" off the available travel. First time out with the new set up and I took a 1 foot drop off at speed in a sandy wash and felt the rear bottom out a bit harder than I expected with the bumpstops. After investigating I found I had caved in the top of the drivers side rear shock and bent the shaft, completely seizing the shock.![]()

Also noteworthy I am very impressed with the Pro Comps. They are almost as good as the Billies and outstanding for their $36.99 price tag. I got them with a 4" shorter compression and gave up about an inch and a half on droop which was no big deal since the Billies were unseating the rear springs a bunch and it is now more reasonable.
FWIW
Yeah, I am camping with a few buds this weekend, and Dylan is coming out there too. I am going to talk to him a bit about it again. The shocks are already good for the rear, and I would have to get the adapter for the fronts, but he did say that they should ride well. I might have them before too long. Something different I guess![]()
