lets play chop the piggy.

i want to make my pig a two door, but i want to do it by stretching the front doors about as much as the fixed glass length, removing the rear doors but keeping a window. i also plan to move the rear tires back a little for less overhang, lets see what ya'll come up with to give me some ideas what it might look like.

thanks in advance

So you want to move the pillar also? That does look nice but man that would be alot of work, at least stretching the door.

Stretching the doors is gonna take a donor truck or crazy fab skills. You're gonna need the door frame bends along the rocker and the roof line. Stretching the door itself is gonna be hard enough. I was going to do it, but in the end just taking the doors off provides me with the ease of entry and exit and I still have the B pillar hard in my shoulder on off camber stuff. I've come to embrace it.

Sectioning the rear to eliminate the rear doors and the overhang is easy enough. Just don't think in terms of one section. I did mine in three. from a line Just above the wheel wells I cut 21' from the rear overhang. From that line to the roof line I took from the rear door. It left the rear door fixed window almost perfectly. I drilled loose the roof and took the area with the most rust.

I pushed the axles a couple of inches with the links. No need to extend the wheelbase any more . It's a nice number for wheeling already.

i watched your build gumby and think its awesome, but i dont want to shorten the body. i thought about WB but taking it from 106" to 112" is hardly going to be noticeable in my mind. the wheel wells are going to be a bit of work but i have a plan that i think will make it pretty straightforward, the doors and B pillar arent a big deal, i'll prolly do those first.

I'm all for new ideas and different stuff.

I'm just thinking about how hard it was to do mine and I went with a relatively simple route. You're talking about changing a lot of stuff, some of which I wanted to do and had to discard so I could get back to wheeling before the next big trip.

i hear ya,,, i have been lookin at it all and i think the hardest part is gonna be to commit and do it. once i get the rear doors filled i am thinkin a big gullwing opening for the whole rear sides would be great. keep in mind i am building a mini RV of sorts and i plan to live in this rig for long stretches in the future.

Not sure if this is what you meant or not.

That looks pretty cool, but if you think bottom door hinge mounts are a problem now

that looks great troll. now if you put that small window behind the door i think it'll be pretty spot on. i dont think i'm gonna push the axle back that far but it does give a good perspective with the angle of the pic. also i am going to have new glass cut for the doors so they will be one piece.

how do you get all the lines so clean?
