Coming back from Sean's yesterday I noticed that the temps were a bit higher on the Scangauge. Avg temps have been 191-195. Yesterday the temp was around 198-202. I thought maybe it was the hot a$$ weather causing the higher than normal temps. Once I got home noticed a small puddle of pink/red stuff under rig so I crawled under the rig and noticed this:

I checked oil and it looks normal. Checked radiator and its seems full. Resovoir is empty need to check for leak there. Rig is running good but evidence of leakage is on driver side. I read Slee PHH page and for whatever reason I can not locate the PHH. Have not removed tire yet to really take a good look but that is next.

I have a new PHH that I have been meaning to tackle but hear horror stories.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Pull your wheel and you'll see it. If/when you do tackle this, remove the knock sensor down there first so you don't break it!

Thanks Brent, sending you e-mail with pics from yesterday. Sent last night but stuck in outbox (files to large).

 I've done that before! Newer cameras, higher resolution = BIGGER pics/higher MB. I think Cox up here limits any one email to something like 10mb. Mail services like Yahoo or Gmail I think are even less.

Look forward to the pics and info. I'm still not sure I need the ladder. Nice to have I guess.

I took advantage of a special SD Trux ran one month and it was the best $ I ever spent having Darryl change it out for me in 30 min.

wow....thanks for the advice.

I'll 2nd any work done by John and his staff at SD Trux. They did my head gasket job and head replacement (couldn't just say head job...). It really is a FPA to do yourself. Mo helped me and w/o his help, I'd have never gotten the :censor:!#Q!$!$:censor: done!

Hard to see but it's above or behind the starter on the DS. Remove the wheel and you should be able to see it.

If you do change it, do the fuel filter and starter contacts while you're in there.

Good idea.

I had mine changed in San Felipe for $20. ************

Update

This past Saturday I went over to TJ's place for PHH, starter contact and fuel filter replacement. Thanks to TJ's skills all went well. The PHH removed did not look bad.

On the way home the temps held to avg 193. Then I noticed the temps climb on the scangauge to 202. "Oh crap" I turned the heater on and rolled down the windows to help cool the engine. When I got to my destination I looked under the rig and more fluid leaking :frown:. Since I had some coolant I refilled the resi since it was now empty.

I have been climbing under the rig each day since trying to find the source of the leak. Yesterday I drove the 80 to pick up the kids from school. This time the temps stayed between 190 - 193. Cooler than my pre-PHH avg. Also noticed resi was still at fill line but more leakage. It's not drips but a steady pour for a bit when stopped.

When I got home I climbed under the rig again since the leakage was fresh. Took some pics:

You can see some of the fresh coolant on starter and hoses:

Looking from rear, you can see more fresh coolant on sway:

Then I noticed more drops further back near cross member closer to passenger side:

Cross member soaked

Could it be the rear heater lines? Going to climb under to see if I can find those damn heater lines when I get home from work.

Sorry to hear about this.

It's easy to bypass the rear heater lines. Just look for the in and out lines on the firewall next to the heater valve and install a short piece of heater hose. IIRC, there is a section of the rear heater lines that is prone to leakage.

Thanks for the info. After kid pick up duty, I checked my rear heater lines and they seem to be ok. No signs of leakage or corrosion.

I think I might have narrowed down the culprit or one of them...

Is this bypass hose #1 that I have been reading about? Or is this the tranny cooling line? If so, might explain the last few pics.

Noticed this yesterday:

Seems a little wet where near the bolts.

This one as well:

Same as yesterday, the cross member is soaked.

Are the leaky hoses letting that much fluid out that it's getting all over the place or I may have multiple leaks :crybaby:

Hard to tell with everything soaked like that. Can you get the underside steam cleaned so you can tell exactly where the leaks are coming from. Fluids often get blown around and get all over the place and it's hard to tell where the leak is exactly.

Check the bottom seam on your radiator. I had the bottom seam go on one of my radiators and it blew coolant all over the bottom like yours.

You may need to take the fan shroud off to get a good look. Inspect the entire radiator for any cracks or pinholes.

Thanks fellas. Time for more investigating.

looks like its bypass hose #1 causing havoc.

Where? I'm in Felipe at least once a year and it would be good to know of a shop just incase.

He's on his way into town behind the vet hospital, I believe. Some ex pat living there took me to him when I was pouring out coolant in the Pemex. Next time I go I'll try to get a more detailed location. He lives in a tiny travel trailer and works in the dirt. Nice guy though. Speaks good English too.
