Pertronix with ignitor

So I was installing a new electronic ignition, and I’m not sure if I ordered the wrong one.
He holes don’t line up at all.

One I bought wrong one for a 1979???

Then this is what I pulled out to be replaced with the Petronix.

Your dist is an electronic dist/ignition. The parts in your hand is the pickup coil. The break in the wire insulation could be grounding out.

Has anyone had issues with there Pertronix? I have had one go bad and have read someone had suggested the since they moved production to China the quality has gone down. Is this true or rumor.

Several yrs ago I put petronix in our boat. I think it failed about a 1 1/2 yrs later.

I mean other than fitment being an issue I installed 2 in the past year and they're just fine.

Mine failed about 6mos ago. Not sure why. Pertronix swapped it out no prob but she left me stranded at Mickey D’s with a 6yr old and 2 happy meals lol.
