I saw you guys driving eastbound on I-40! I was headed westbound to the WNC meetup
Ha ha I thought that was you. I saw you and was like, "ooh-ooh!" and was going to point you out but my wife was in the car behind me so I was just ooh-ooh-ing to myself. I've got her more that 51% convinced that she wants a hundy instead of another van.

Sorry about the miscue again... hope I didnt throw off your plans to bad. Hate I didnt get to really meet you or check out the rig, soon I hope. Probably best you did turn around there coming in from the south if the wife wasnt a fan of the washboard (extra % point, 100 does way better on that sort of stuff ;) )

Was a wet soggy weekend for sure but fun times. Richland was a muddy mess and more of challenge than I anticipated just getting up the climb as it transitions from road to trail. 192 was fun as usual and got some fishing in Saturday morning with a few small successes. Wandered from there down roseboro to mortimer and over Craig Creek to 181 and south a 1/4mile or so to FSR 288; one I had seen but never traveled. Beautiful drive I thought was going to push on through to Table rock road but instead dead ended into a first come first serve group camping area. Would be a great spot for some exploring ONSC caravaners. Speaking of..... i thought id toss a line in a pristine pool before turning around and heading back out when over my shoulder someone calls my name. Turn around to find the only other person at the dead end road was @lowtops camping with his daughter. Small world! Great to see you again. From there I boogied over to the west side of the gorge and got a good hike in with the brown dog before weather set in. We wrapped up and were just setting up camp when i got a call from a RDU friend in black mountain coincidentally so I packed up and headed down to Pisgah for the Möe show where the camping took a decidedly more urban theme. I wasnt the only one that slept off a few too many Gray Beards in the lot LOL.

@slceso wish I could make it! I promised I would work on the nursery.

I camped there a few weeks ago. The roadside primitive is nice. Lot of good spots big enough for several cruisers. I snapped a few photos.

This was a kick ass area. never been up there before. I stopped at the first campsite we saw, but the next one that you have a pic of with the sheer rock wall would have been a lot better for shelter. We're going to go to try that spot next if possible.

Nah, man! It was only chance that I even saw you were up there. We decided to head to the Black Mountain area and literally as we were pulling out of the driveway I checked and saw you were out and about and thought we'd try it. I'm glad we saw you when we did. a few more minutes and we would have missed you and drove that whole thing! Plus, last night the lightning was freaking out the kids and the dogs and it was a Griswold vacation kind of moment, so it's best there were no witnesses, LOL!

I've mostly only been on the table rock side of Linville Gorge (except the falls and the caverns, never up old 105). Give me a buzz next time you're running through and maybe I can roll solo. I do wanna get together and discuss the virtues of Tundra wheels. I need to ditch the R15s and put the late model brakes on this thing before I straighten a curve out on the BRP and nobody don't find me for days.

No real pics of fri night except where i got turned down a wrong road bout 11pm fri night..... through a compound, down a dwindling trail, past a random shop with lights one in BFE, in a poring down rain, where i ran into this. Not your average trail obstacle. Probably best to turn around anyhow as i dont think that trail was ever gonna end well...... but worst part was having to go back through the lil group of houses. Reminded me of exploring Boomer wit @GarnerFJ40 on our hurrican scouting runs.

Road sign nowhere near a road tied to a tree

And dead end #1 of the weekend, downed power lines........ wonder if this is how dude got power to his shop LOL

Pushed on trough and finally made old rockhouse gap / 192 and settled in to one of the campsites just before the gravel ends. Any creampuffs ;) wanna run the trail now is the time. They just cut back rhododendrons and overhanging trees. Only downside is pungie sticks everywhere in trail.

Sat morning, start of an awesome day of weather and exploring.

First we got to fuel up..... coffee and sausage eng muffin for me and new heights in laziness for the multibeast.

192 was wet and foggy rolling through 730 am or so

But finally i was out and on to gravel where i was able to pick up the pace but stopped probably half dozen time to cast in some of the smaller streams. Opening day of the season..... the big rivers were littered with fish hunters of all kinds. The newbies loaded with the latest gear were amusing

Worked my way around to the other side and parked at the top of the gorge and ran down to the river and back. Whew. It must be getting steeper as I was struggling coming back up ;)

Crazy we were wading in the river yesterday in shorts and sandals and freezing today at the straightaway.

@jfz80 Looks like an awesome time. I've gotta get with you one weekend for a little bit of exploring. Your pace seems about right.

@slceso I wanna take a rain check (pun intended) but seriously, let me know when you go again.
