Finally had a chance to post an update. The troopy has been at the body shop getting full inside out respray.

In the meantime, I decided to paint and mod the interior dash panels.

Being a car designer by trade... I get real anal when it gets to modifying car parts.

Also being obsessed with electronics I decided to pre plan for future mods and additions.

One thing to keep in mind is that this build is not a crazy overland / kitchen cabinet / counter tops / bathroom / bedroom /camper build.

My troopy is going to be a simple, honest work truck with convenient mods with a usable interior.

Once it gets back from the body shop, the real work begins. Lift / lockers / engine...

But for now... Dash mods.

I knew I was going to add some accessories. ( stereo amp, inverter, lockers, compressor, winch...)

To keep the oem look, I purchased a bunch of oem switches.
The useless ashtray had to go.

I scanned in the dash and 3D modeled an insert that hase room for 1 OEM switch and x2 12v sockets.

The insert just snaps in with no extra hardware. I can modify the 3D model for any switch or accessory.

Can make some for any interested parties.

Decided to use a single Blue Sea battery monitor with a 3 way switch which will be attached to both batteries. Will be attached as constant 12v to be able to check the battery when car is off, but also to have the ability to turn it off ( middle position) to not use any power.

Also for the binnacle, i got rid of the blank inserts and moded the plastic to fit more switches.

Left side will house the main fog light and spot light switches

The right side will have the locker switches ( which I made out of some extra OEM defrost switches )

The switches are just placeholders for now.

Getting the ink transfers ready to apply the new icons and symbols for the buttons. Once they are applied and clear coated they will be installed and wired in.

More to come.....
