Does anyone know what this is? It’s wired up next to the driver side firewall inside engine compartment. It’s not attached and hanging loose.

I’ve had my 1996 80 for about 2 months now so still digging into it and just noticed this.

Do you have an 80, or an LX450? Regardless, based on the trash below it, it looks like an aftermarket scab (I didn't see a part number on it anywhere - dead giveaway).

Where does the loom at the lower end go?

It’s a 96 Toyota 80…. Here is a picture of what it plugs into. I’ve got the arrow pointing to the wire and it plugs into the circled part.

Any other non-standard looking boxes or wires under the dash
or front seat? Is there a small red light on the dash in one of the knock-outs (unused switch panel)?

Looks like it runs to the starter, so maybe part of an alarm system??

Maybe take another photo looking in from the left front wheel well, pull the rubber curtain back to see the top side of the starter solenoid.
