I would love to see some pictures. Did you use a clear coat after the platinum and gold paint?

Yes, I used the Dupli Color clear coat in the same Perfect Match section as the Platinum Mettalic.

Thanks Army Yota! I plan to take care of this over the weekend; supposed to be almost 70 here on the east coast!

Finally got the pictures downloaded.
I started with sanding the hubcaos down with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Mine had almost no old paint left.
This is after 3 to 4 coats of the Platinum Metallic.

Then I painted the symbol with the Testers gold enamel and applied 3 to 4 coats of the clear.

I just used the one can of each. Seems to cover fine with thin coats.
Here's what it looks like on the LX.

This was an easy fix that really makes a difference.:bounce:

Hope this helps.

No problem. Happy to help.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Didn't see any answer to the earlier question....does running without the center caps risk any damage vs. leaving the caps on? I'm sure Mr. T wouldn't have designed them with caps, if they weren't necessary, but some items had to be put in place for the soccer moms. Just a thought since I'm thinking of removing mine until I repaint my entire wheels.

Don't worry about running without center caps, they are purely cosmetic and plenty of people here run without them.

Finished the hub cap repaint job today; what a difference for under $20 and a few hours!!

The longest time was waiting for the paint to dry!

No doubt the sanding and waiting for the paint to dry takes most of the time required; the time and effort is well worth it considering the dramatic results!

Here is my before and after picture.

I went a slightly different route. I matched the graphite color inside the webs of the LX wheels. Duplicolor "Graphite".

While I was at it, I de-chromed my grill using the same graphite paint in combination with some satin black. Also repainted the roof rack and roof ribs with the same graphite. Looks much better!

Looking good. Yours had more paint left on it than mine. Wish I would have taken a before picture.

I am considering doing that on my grill. Looks good!

painted center caps using fusion

I painted my center caps finally with Krylon fusion Hammered Silver and they came out looking pretty good. I lost one of them but Haligen kindly gave me one of his:) I did it in high humidity so they didn't come out too hammered. I hope they hold up well. I did mask the black centers and they did come out a little ragged but good enough for me!

Great info did mine

Since I owe my paint job to those that posted here I thought I would pass along my hubcap paint job that came out looking OEM new.

1. Dry sanded with 220 and 600 wet to get 100% of the paint off except the gold inlay.

2. 4 fog coats of dupli-color prime (1 can)

3. 600 wet sand the prime coat smooth.

4. 7 fog coats of the Dupli-Color Nissan platinum part number BNS0595 (O'Rileys auto store) 2 cans.

5. Steel wooled the paint after 24 hour cure with 0000 steel wool to knock down the texture. Could use 00 steel wool too.

6. Used Toyota 4T8 Gold touch up to paint in the recessed emblem area ( less than one 1/2 oz touch up bottle is all you need). Easy does it with paint on the little brush.

7. 7 coats of Dupli-Color clear ( 2 cans)

Came out perfect, like new. I just wondered where the weekend went. :D

Sounds great. Can u post pics?
