Anyone know the original size of the tires from an 1980 FJ-40. PO had 33" tires but I am trying to bring it back to stock as close as possible. Also looking to replace the white spoke rims (see my pic in profile) with the OEM wheels and hubcaps.

I beleive the original size was a L78-15. You best bet is to go to Interco Tire or pony up to cruiserparts.net for the original spares. As far as the rims and hubcaps go to the dealer. By the time you buy someones used ones and ship them its a waste. Only real drawback with the dealer is the rims only come in black, but at least you know they are not thrashed.

OEM was a Dunlop H78x15(bout 28") the MS option was the Snow Cruiser..........this is the one on my 82 fj40.........it aint never touched the ground

I've got a full set of the original Dunlop snow cruiser tires mounted on the fact grey rims. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever find a worthy project for them.

Yeah, i am pretty sure I will try and find Dunlop 235-75-15's since most of my driving is local street driving.
The set of OEM 78’ rims I just picked up had the original spare on the spare rim (no hub cap clips). It is a Dunlap 225/75/15. Too bad it is all rotted from the last 26 yrs. I will most likely put the same size on once I blast and powder coat the rims.
Lunap, you may already know this but the drum brake OEM rims will not fit the disk brake trucks. I learned this the hard way after I had a nice set of drum brake rims blasted and powder coated. Now it looks like drum rims can be modified to fit, but it will take some grinding and welding. Basic spacers will not work either.
IF it helps, the fast way to tell if an OEM rim is disk is by looking at the inside (axel side) of the rim:
Center section is WELDED to the outer shell = Disk rim
Center section has STUDS to the outer shell = Drum rim
Woody if you want to put this in the Facts section I can shoot you some photos showing the differences. This might save another cruiser head the pain getting a set of rims only finding they will not fit.
