When your 40 is just plain mean and you want to show it
The upside is it would be impossible to not know you had your bezel on upside down
I need a new 3" input muffler - anyone have any suggested preference. It's for the 80. I have a magnaflow on there - and it sounds terrible. And it's also 2.5" and the new setup is 3".
You could always mount it upside down for that Bubba Gump underbite...

I believe it is the flowmaster series 40 that sounds pretty good on an 80
@mtweller what was the FM you had on your 40?? I believe that is the one my friend had on his 80 that made a nice sound.

Yep, 40 series Flowmaster for the 40 series Landcruiser. No idea how it sounds on an 80, but I would guess similar.

I could not stand the flow master 40 with 3" tubing in my 80. Went back very next day for a resonator that helped some but added a turbo paper shredder sound fx
I have the magnaflow now with 2.5" pipe and still don't find it acceptable in the power band. Too loud. i just purchased a vibrant resonator to try and tone this one down as well.
Lots have been pleased with a turbo thrush muffler and the walker hush series but have been some complaints about longevity.

Stopped by dealership in Burt to pick up an application. Tried to find a new cruiser to ogle, told if I want one the dealer will find a pre-owned one for me to buy. Then salesman asked if that was my Lexus out back

Flowmaster makes "quieter" mufflers than the traditional 40 Series. They are bit pricey but the 70 series mufflers sound really nice and do not drone near as much as the 40 series.

yup ... i asked for a 70 series and came back to find a 40 or 50 series in place

They put a FlowMaster 40 series on my 80 and I took it back the next day. Then they installed the MagnaFlow and replaced the resonator with a glass pack. It's louder than stock, but much better than that FlowMaster... I find it to be tolerable.
