I know. I know. Cure time :(

Just when I thought I could shed this 10, errr, 15 extra pounds now I'm gonna have to do just that. Well, will power tells me I can't quit now .... must brew and drink until the job is done.

Cleaned up nicely. A couple dents and dings but got it down to 20 degrees last night. Have not measured my keg for fit but can get another keg if need be.

Idea of the day. Maybe some one can point me in the right direction. Maybe this already exists.

CK - Cable Killer

Idea of the day.
This is coming from the fact that multiple friends have cut the cord however they are more tech savy than my wife will ever be or want to be. Also, I would like this for my parents and everyone else over paying for cable. We determined our tv is barely on 60 hours a month. 8.3% (60 hours out of 720 hours a month) for $135 a month.

I would like a way via touch screen remote or Alexia to change channels on my tv.

Here is the catch. The TV channels come from multiple sources and have nothing to do with uverse or spectrum or any cable company.

Imagine your TV is connected to the internet (hulu, netflix, whatever else) and your TV also has an antenna for local digital channels over the air for free. There are about 10 channels over the air for free now. And they are digital.

I would interface with touch screen remote or Alexia, select a station of my choosing and behind the scenes the software would get me to the channel. If the channel is from the antenna or the internet, I do not care, the software would basically determine the best free or close to free place to get the channel.

You have now completely cut out the cable company and allowed every non technical TV user on the planet to have the cheapest TV possible.

This would save us $85 a month. For others it would be much more.

The more important piece is finally getting the cable companies out of our lives.

If you have Android and a smart tv or chromecast you can download an app called Showbox that has every tv show imaginable and most smart tv's now come with a partner app that you can control your tv from your phone or tablet as long as they are hooked up to the same network. With all of the mentioned prior the only cost, you are out is your internet bill and the cost of the chromecast if you do not have a tv with the ability to receive a "cast". We do not have cable and use Showbox for all of our tv and some movie needs.

Thank you. We have chromecast. Our biggest challenge is ACC (UNC) Basketball and all college football. And wanting to watch ABC, NBC, and CBS. Will a DVR device still work?

for local broadcast channels you will still need an antenna and you can buy a stand alone dvr device to record live tv from those channels it is not something I do as most football games I watch I will watch live or stream them out of market from different websites and cast them up on the tv. Showbox takes 24 hrs before a tv show is available to watch/stream however its free so we are ok with not seeing something as it airs there is always workarounds if you have reliable internet service.

You can get a Logitech remote with programable macro buttons. Picture hitting "watch Fox" and it turns the TV on, the antenna on, switches all the inputs correctly and sets it to the right channel. I've had the same remote for about 10 years. Logitech 880 I think. They make a slightly nicer tabletop version that's probably even better.

I'm sure there are more tech savvy options, but with the complexity of my system, it made sense to have easy buttons programmed for the wife and kids. Otherwise "what input is Roku?" or "how do I get the sound to work for the computer?" would be daily questions. "Watch Roku" or "Play Oculus" or "Play Xbox" are easy things to figure out.

Yes, we need the easy button at my house. I will check it out and thank you for all the great ideas.

Guys, keep your eyes out for me... my Danby kegerator fell out of the back of my truck the other day somewhere around the triad. $25 reward for her safe return. Here is a picture:

I tell you what is sick, Spectrum TV allows me to watch tv on my ipad, and when smokey and the bandit is on, I can't concentrate on work. Jackie Gleason is just too funny

Wow, wonder what the price for the arms will be and if you can use other coilovers.
Those CV angles don't look healthy though.

It won't. If the intent is to gain more articulation, when the wheel drops and you really need that traction, the high angle can pop the CV as power gets to it. Dropping the diff will ensure you maintain non-destructive angle and geometry both when loaded and unloaded.

someone just needs to make portal-ized lower control arms. a control arm with a portal box integrated that includes the ability to use different hubs on the spindle so you can setup the bolt pattern and backspacing based on which hub you use. the portal box/spindle and hubs would be universal, and the control arm would be vehicle specific.
