I've not got one mounted in my Tacoma too, its plumbed so that the heater control know on the dash controls the heat output of the shower, works very slick and makes getting just the right temp a breeze.

We've got great stock on all the kits right now, give me a ring or post up if you have any questions!

Nope but I would be happy to. Basically I just plumbed my Helton heat exchanger in-line (series) with the heater control valved, I've done similar installs on 60 & 80 Series too :cool:

Was kind of mad at myself for not buying the FJ62 radiator for my 60, use the automatic tranny cooler for the heat exchanger, so I'm wrapping my exhaust with copper tubing and using a Surflo water pump and different connectors for the inlet/diffuser to shower head set up. Have a kid that loves to camp and want to keep both of us clean on long excursions.

Yes, I've had a few customers that have tried it. It will heat the water, but very slowly. The design of efficiency between an air to liquid heat exchanger does not match the performance of a coolant/coolant exchanger such as a tube-in-shell or plate style. That's not to say it can't work or never will work, but the few that I have deal with did not.

Copper tubing around the exhaust man. or rad. hose. Surflow pump, with auto shutoff at 30psi. Mounts for difusser/hot cold/ mounted in bumper, upright with ball valve for water saving on upright to shower head. Rock and roll.

Have you done this? Works OK? Again I've heard from those that have and were left with a somewhat un-impressive heater. Think about the actual contact that a round tube makes on a flat surface, even if you could wrap it really tight you would have very little heat transfer. Using thermal pastes and some sort of wrap to trap the heat could increase the efficiency to a usable level, but I can guarantee simply wrapping it around the manifold (and definitely not a rubber hose) will not yield you the results you are looking for.

One more motivated than me could actually use some common heat transfer calculations to estimate the heat exchange between different materials, devices, scenarios, etc. Again, someone more motivated than me :D
 
In works as soon as camera is avail, last one was 3 foot under water, tacoma 3 in lift 5 and 1/2 foot under water, good camping 3 day letting ecu dry out, will post pics on install and let know water temp. on install. May take a little while have to buy new camera.

Cool, so you have done it and it is working out? Interested in seeing your setup and hearing more about the performance :cool:
