Anybody running an OME suspension on a Gen1 with front leaf springs (84 or 85)? I have an '85 4Runner and I've ordered the full kit but I've also ordered a larger tie-rod with FJ80 ends and I don't think it has the connection point for the stabilizer like the stock tie-rod. I would like to know before the parts arrive what the OME steering stabilizer tie-rod end looks like for this application. I might need to have the tie-rod modified or buy a clamp for the stabilizer in order to bolt the two together. The OME part number is OMESD21 if that helps in any way.

If you have this kit (or just the steering stabilizer) on an '84 or '85 with the stock tie-rod then maybe you could tell me what the stabilizer end looks like and how it's attached to the tie-rod (or a photo would be fantastic!). Or maybe you could just tell me if it looks like the top or bottom one in this photo.

Thanks!

I have the OME stabilizer sitting in my garage - I removed it recently because it wasn't doing anything useful for my steering.

I'm not exactly sure what information you need, but mine looks like the top one in the photo you posted. When I had it mounted to my crossover tie rod, I fabbed up a clamp using Ubolts and a piece of angle to bolt the threaded end of the stabilizer to the tie rod. Here's a pic of the stabilizer with the bracket:

Hope this helps,

Thanks Allan,

That helps. I have ordered an extra bracket similiar to the one on the left of yours (looking at the photo). I think that will solve the problem.

For anyone else contemplating something similar. I ordered the Marlink, beefier, Tie-rod w/ FJ80 ends from Marlin Crawler. Although this tie-rod fits the stock 4Runner (or truck) with front leaf springs, it doesn't fit a stock steering stabilizer application. The stock tie rod end has a hole for a bolt through stabilizer attachment. They do have a bracket that I hope will attach the stabilizer to the tie rod.
