I just had to put the helper springs on my rear OME Heavy kit back into place with a hammer, I thought it was a one off issue until this thread popped up. The ancient Rough Country lift that was on my truck when I got it had the same issue so I guess it is common.I now that this thread is really old - but I think that it is good to keep the information together.
This information really struck me - I too have that problem that the rear spring leaves get misaligned - don't like it. So I went with a tape measure and also measured different distances for the fixed vs shackle mount.
So this made my really worrying about the straightness of my spring mounts.....the post above is my first confirmation that it is actually designed like that.
Are the springs really not 90° in relation to the axle? Can anybody confirm this ?
Unfortunately all the frame dimension drawings do not measure the spring mount distance side to side.
Very curious about further information.
It seems everyone is having the same experience with the front and rear spring mounts being wider on one end, so I would have to imagine it is a factory design. Anyone have a good angle gauge they can put against the spring pack and axle and see if they are angled out from the axle?
@CruiserTrash you have some obscure literature and contacts to more obscure literature, do you have any Toyota drawings that show the rear spring mount dimensions or talk about this?
